1988 Honda accord lx car on highway started shuddering and when braked it shut down, will start but unless you rev it shuts right down

88 is old car.....
is it a carb car or EFI car. this is a transition year, here in USA>
locations are never stated, here, so most answers are wrong.
this sounds like a sticking EGR.
the EGR opens at cruise and closes as you stop car
if it dont close the engine stalls. (or near)
its a 50,000 mile service item. we clean it.
in a shop the replace it, so it can go another 50k. but i clean mine.
so i dont have to pay $200.
there are vast numbers of reasons for stalled. but works out to just
4. (basics,) and the EGR.
if you get a tuneup, right, it will stop stalling

My car sometimes turnes off suddenly during

I had the same problem on my 1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl. It was the ignition switch. I received a letter from Honda regarding a recall on the ignition switch and had it replaced. 3 years after replacement it would turn off again & this time I purchased part from eBaby & replaced it myself. It hasn’t stalled since.

I have a 1987 Accord LX 4 dr. When driving at approximately between 55 to 60 mph the transmission shifts back and forth between 3rd and 4th gear with the slightest acceleration. It seems to me it's doing...

Depends on the throttle position, there is a adjustment for that transmission. I would suggest someone who has Honda experience, like a dealer.

I have an 89 Honda Accord lx and it idles too low

The idle speed for my 88 accord lx is 700-850 rpm for standard idle speed. The stalling is a seperate issue. When were plugs, wires, air/gas filters and distributor last checked? How long has engine been running for when you stall? Is the temprature gauge high? Any lights coming on when stall occurs? I am not a mechanic, but a DYI'er. These are common questions I am always asked when troubleshooting my Honda. :)

1987 HONDA ACCORD LX WATER LEAK

Yes, there is a "bypass outlet" coolant hose that connects from the water pump inlet pipe (metal pipe that runs from back of water pump along engine block to lower radiator hose) to the intake manifold.

I am not sure about the "black box" - not enough detail.

'91 Honda Accord LX transmission light on.

You say "standard transmission?" Do you mean "standard" as in "manual/5 spd./'stick-shift'?" transmission?

Either way, if you replaced the alternator belt and the battery light went away and the car doesn't sputter or stop, then it's the "speed sensor" on the transmission itself. The car will still drive, but the speedometer cannot read how fast the car is going (in RPM's as well).
