Question about 2006 Audi A4

1 Answer

I have an Audi A4 Wagon (2006). My car was taken in when the oil pressure light kept coming on. The repair shop recommended that I replace the oil pump (very expensive). That didn't fix the problem. I later found it was the CVV and have since repaired that. Would it have been dangerous for me/my car to go with this unfixed? I am seeking some sort of resolution here, as I believe my car was misdiagnosed, and I was charged an egregious amount to replace the oil pump when that was not the problem. If I continued driving it with no fix to the CVV, I'd like to know if that would have caused even worse problems with the car...

Thank you. I apprecite your input. Sadly, I was charged a lot on both sides and I am taking action to get something back. At least I think the problem is fixed now.

Thank you for your help. It is a confirmation of what I suspected and should help in my next steps to take action with the repair shop.

The only thing it would have done is run rough. And get worse as you went, but it would have taken time. I don't know what you are going to do about the oil pump, but they never go bad, I have never replaced one, I would have been looking else where for the fault in your car and not blaming the oil pump. Did they bother to put a pressure check on it before they took your money?? Now to get things clear, you replace the crank case vent valve??? About $2, and 2 minutes time. They replaced an oil pump for about $300. Get out the paintball gun!!! Only kidding. good luck. Hope this helps.

Ive gota 2006 audi a4 sline when a oil pressure light came on it stil drives does not rev over 2000 revs and throws alot of black smoke owt what isit

Black smoke is a sign of excessive fuel, there is something wrong with the fuel injection or one of the sensors which is sending an incorrect signal to the unit, perhaps it is still inn start enrichment. The oil pressure switch could be linked to the start system and the switch is either faulty or the engine oil pressure is failing.

I am about to buy a used 2002 audi a4 5 speed manual with 81000 miles but looking after its problems i m really confused either to buy it or let it go...

If it has a manual trasmisson it may be in need of a clutch and pressure plate so your looking at about $500.00 to $1500.00 in repairs depending on what all you need. They won't be able to tell you all that you need until it is taken apart.

have it taken back to the garage on a breakdown truck and ask them nicely to have a look, could be nothing more than a build up of oil behind the pressure switch in teh rubber cover causing the light to come on .????? BUT???

I also have a 2004 Audi A4 3.0 Quatro and the low oil sensor comes on periodically. I pull the oil dip stick and put it back and it goes away. Maybe it will work itself out.
