How to change. a timing belt on a 2001 Plymouth neon

Its a fairly big project. You have to be able to raise and lower the engine, and it takes an impact gun to get the crank pulley off.
I would suggest getting a book and reading the procedure before you start to make sure you can handle it, especially if you want to do it at home.

What are the steps to change a water pump on a 2001 dodge neon?

disconnect cables from battery, drain radiator, Remove the Timing belt cover, timing belt, timing belt tensioner and if needed the timing belt rear cover, remove the bolts that hold the pump in place using a criss-cross pattern. Install the new pump making sure the o-ring seal is properly installed and replace all the other parts. If you need step by step instructions on how to do all these task I recommend the Haynes Repair Manual on your vehicle Manual 30036.

How do you fix timing gear

Timing Gear...? when you say gear, it usually is gear/chian configuration. Neon has a timing belt and unless something realy strange happened, you wil never need to repalce/repair a timing gear.

Changing a timing belt is not to terribly hard (well, its all relative to how mechanically inclined you are)

If you want to change the belt, let me know, I can give you instructions (best thing is to get a book thought, they have pictures that are worth a 1000 words!!)

It can only be a few things for this. My neon had some power loss one time. I replaced all the wires, plugs, and bought a msd ignition coil pack.. try just checking your plugs and wires

I want to replace the timing belt bearing on my Pt what is involved

This job is very time consuming.

Since the water pump is driven off the timing belt, it isn't much harder then doing a timing belt.

When I changed the pump on my 2.4 neon, I learned a few lessons.

One disconnect the passenger and front motor mounts. It will help create space to remove the passenger motor mount bracket.

Have a good crank pulley puller and a source of heat. A crank puller wasn't strong enough to pull my pulley off. Add heat and it came off with ease.

Those were my two biggest wastes of time when I changed my pump. I think your biggest headache will be the A/C lines. I don't have A/C in my neon, but I've pulled some parts from cars with it. It is a pain to work around.

The rest is pretty easy. If you are doing a water pump, think about a new timing belt tensioner . You can download a PDF file of the Neon/SRT4 manual there. It will tell you how to do a waterpump on the 2.4
