How do I replace/add freon to the AC system? What is included in my 100,000 service and what should I expect to pay?

You don't add refrigerant or top off any fluids.
If you need to add,you have a leak
Repair leaks first, that goes for the entire vehicle and all it's systems.

The AC in my 2003 VW Convertible is not chilling enough. What can I do about it?

Your system may just be low on freon. Most auto parts stores sell 134a freon for about $10 a can. If you visit an Autozone store the parts counter personnel might also show you how to add freon to the VW Beetle, it's not hard once you know where the correct port is located. You simply start your car, connect the freon dispensing hose to the AC port (there are two (2) ports, but the hose connection will only fit onto the smaller of the two (2) ports - the low pressure side). Allow the car to run while the can is discharged into the AC system, generally takes 10-15 minutes. Most dispeners have a freon pressure gauge on the hose portion that attaches to the can. Never disconnect a partially empty can unless there is a shutoff valve, and the valve is closed all the way. Better to add the entire can to the AC system.
If you have never added freon to your 2003 VW Beetle, that's the most likely problem. You could also have developed a slow leak in the compressor or AC lines, so I recommend adding freon WITH a sealant in the same can just in case.

The job would cost between $45 and $65 if you take it to a reputible mechanic to perform. That usually includes a full blown pressure test of the AC system. and a whole list of costly recommendations.

I had auto shop put freon in and then they said was working fine...said pay and you can go, car cooling just fine...I go out to my car and complete system is dead. The fan controls in dash now dead....

If your system its empty of free on, yow wont be able to activate your ac compressor, you might have a leak some where, this its the simple answer, there could be more problems, a bad blower motor, relays, fuses, cloged system, etc.:)

Ac clutch not kicking on

ADD Freon. It's a R134 system and the pressure is too low. Trust me add Freon and it will work fine. With a low amount of Freon if you jump the low pressure switch at the accumulator it will be very cold but will not have enough pressure to kick on the low pressure switch.

How do you add refrigerant.

If you follow the lines coming from the A/c compressor, you will find a red cap on one line and a blue cap on the other line. The blue cap is the suction side. Remove the blue cap. You can buy recharge kits at the parts store that have a line and tap included. You just couple the line there, open the valve on the freon can and start the engine. Run the a/c on high. Be careful not to overcharge the system. If the belts start squeeling, that will indicate too much freon in the system and a high presure situation.

2005 Altima 3.5 air conditioning blows warm air at temperature over 85 degrees.

All three of the above answers are incorrect. There is no need for freon to be introduced into the system, if the system is fully charged. If you do this, and follow the above advice, you will damage your AC compressor. What you need to do is get the vehicle hooked up to a set of refrigerent gauges at a local competent service center, and the pressures will tell your competant mechanic what to do next. NEVER 'add freon' if you are not 100% sure that the system is low.

My 2004 Aviator air conditioner is not cooling.

Where ever you take it they are going to do an AC service. That involves evacuating the system of any remaining freon, pulling a vacuum in the system, seeing if the system holds the vacuum, and then recharging the system with freon and adding some type of leak detector dye to the freon. That can run anywhere from $40 to $90, depending on where you live and the labor rates where you live. You can call around to the different shops in your area and ask how much they charge to do an AC service.
