How to drop fuel tank on 1988 surburban

Drain the gas tank. I didn't have a lift so I used a floor jack under neath the gas tank. I used a piece of plywood on top of floor jack that would fit between tank straps. Take the fill tube loose, take fuel lines and electrical connectors loose. Take tank straps loose, you may have to drop tank a little to reach some connections. If I remember correctly the fuel pump is in the middle of tank. I don't know if you would want to cut hole in floor of surburban to reach pump? I don't have any info about cutting that hole, if you try that, that is your responsibility.

Where to cut ecces hole f0r fuelpump replacement

Not a good idea to do this. If you cut threw a fuel line while cutting the floor, You will catch the vehicle on fire. This would be very difficult to put out, because the fire would be between the floor and gas tank.

Have to hold the gas peadel to the floor to crank when idle put in gear it cuts off changed spark plugs

This could be a bad connection at the crankshaft sensor. Check your TPS switch too.

My Chevy cavalier 99 takes a sec to start I have to hold gas pedal to floor been like this fo at least a year I changed full regulator any suggestions it's a 2.2

if the car is fuel injected, holding the gas pedal to the floor will actually cut off your fuel injectors - which may make it worse. You need to check fuel pressure, you want to make sure the fuel pump isn't bad. Also, check your battery.

Hope this is helpful :-)

92 jeep cherokee will not start when hot, starts when you hold the gas pedal to the floor ? Then runs ruff cuts off.

replace the fuel filter then check the air/fuel mix needle valve according to manufacturer specs. Sounds like you have way to rich a fuel mixture.

Peugeot 206 stalling, either cuts off or I floor the gas pedal

When you "floor the gas pedal" the computor goes into a bypass mode (emergency mode). This honestly sounds a lot like a problem I ran into a while back on a Dodge truck. Problem was a cracked intake manifold (plastic). Short version: vacuum leak.

When you put the gas peddle to the floor it spits and sputters

check fule filter, check rubber hose if equiped, at tank, may be hard to tell by sight,
I have had cars that would run fine when driven slowly but when floored promptly died.
I finally found it , and that is what it was,the little rubber hose that connects the steel gas line to tank, for whatever reason , was collapsing when car was floored cutting gas flow off robbing engine of fule
if you can easily pinch the rubber hose that could be the problem.
I haven't seen that one for a while(nostalgic)
I hope this helps!

Why not cut a hole in the floor above the gas tank and remove the fuel pump that way. Probably a dumb question, but I need the ask. Thanks

some have a trap door in floor board to get to fuel pump, check it out.
need to take tank out to cut hole anyway :(

What is the best way to access the fuel pump to repalce it without adding expenses? They want to cut the floor and do it. Will this cause problems in the winter? We live in Michigan with a lot of deep...

Too bad GM doesnt provide a cover to access tank without dropping the tank. I would think creating this "hole" would be quite the endeavor and done correctly would add quite the additional time and expense. Decline cutting holes and drop the tank in order to service the pump/sender. Any reputable repair firm should or would never recomend this measure in order to access the pump in the fuel tank I would hope....
