I need specks for a Toyota Landcruiser 3f 6 cylinder engine model fj75 - I need ring gap measurements and torque settings for all engine bolts.

The cylinder head bolt torque is a 2 step process.

First: Torque all of the bolts to 45 Nm (450 Kgf-cm or 33 ft lbs.)
Replace any head bolt that will not torque to the above specs.

Second: after all ten bolts are torqued to the above specs, the head bolts are then "Torqued to Distance"...

Starting at the center bolts, retorque all ten bolts an additional 90 degrees.

Tighten in several passes to 44 foot pounds.

I just wanted to add. Since this is an aluminum cylinder head, I hope you loosened the head in the loosening torque pattern. The pattern opposite of the torque tightening pattern. If not, you stand the chance of warping the head.

Again, since it's an aluminum head, it needs to be checked for flatness. Most aluminum heads need to be surfaced before re-installing.

Tightening torque pattern is as follows:

1.The Drivers side of the engine is the Left side.
From the Front going towards the back; the bolts are numbered 10, 6, 1, 3, and 7.
From the Front going towards the back on the Passenger side; the bolts are numbered 8, 4, 2, 5, and 9.

The Exhaust and Intake Camshaft Bearing Cap bolts go to 9 foot pounds. Tighten gradually. One bolt to the other with so many foot pounds, work back, and forth up to 9lbs.

Camshaft Timing Pulley bolts go to 43 foot pounds. (In a tightening sequence, and gradually)

I have a 1999 GMC 350 I need the head torque specs just replace head gaskets can anyone help



  1. Clean the cylinder gasket surfaces on the engine block.
  2. Inspect the dowel pins (cylinder head locator) for proper installation.
  3. Clean the cylinder head gasket surfaces on the cylinder head.
  4. Place the NEW cylinder head gasket in position over the dowel pins (cylinder head locator).The cylinder head gasket is not directional and may be installed using either side facing the engine block.
  5. Install the cylinder head to the engine block. Guide the cylinder head carefully into place over the dowel pins and the cylinder head gasket.
  6. Install the cylinder head bolts.
  7. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in the image below on the first pass to 30 [n-m] (22 lb ft).

  8. Use a torque angle meter in order to tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence on the final pass. Tighten:
    • Tighten the long bolts (1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 13) on the final pass in sequence to 75 degrees.
    • Tighten the medium bolts (14 and 17) on the final pass in sequence to 65 degrees.
    • Tighten the short bolts (3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, and 16) on the final pass in sequence to 55 degrees.

  9. Measure the NEW spark plugs for the proper gap.Adjust the spark plug gap if necessary.
    Specification:
    Spark plug gap to 1.52 mm (0.060 in)
  10. Install the NEW spark plugs. Tighten:
    • Tighten the spark plugs for a USED cylinder head to 15 [n-m] (11 lb ft).
    • Tighten the spark plugs for the initial installation of a NEW cylinder head to 30 [n-m] (22 lb ft).

  11. If reusing the engine coolant temperature (ECT) gauge sensor, apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 to the threads of the ECT gauge sensor.
  12. Install the ECT gauge sensor.Tighten:
    Tighten the ECT gauge sensor to 20 [n-m] (15 lb ft).

Engine code: 1FZ-FE, 1HD.
Stage 1: 20 Nm (Start tightening bolts from center to outwards)
Stage 2: 39 Nm
Stage 3: Rotate each bolt by 90 Degrees.
Stage 4: Further rotate each bolt by 90 Degrees

push the ring to the bottom of the cylinder and measure the ring gap. It will be .010" minimum to .025" maximum. .010" indicates goor rings where as .025" indicates worn out rings

IT is possible that you fitted the rings the wrong way up and compression gas is getting into the sump. It is also possible that ring gaps were not checked and the gap is the same as if the motor is worn out. Check for the PCV valve operation

A general rule of thumb for ring gap is .003 " per 1" of bore. Example 4" bore minimum gap at bottom of cylinder for the ring is .012". IF fitting new rings then push the ring to the bottom of the bore ( smallest dia.) and measure the gap . nothing under .010". Max ring gap at this point should not exceed m.025" and if the gap exceeds this then the sides of the rings will have sharp edges from wearing on the piston lands.. The distance travelled depends on the service interval and the air cleaner being used as a dusted motor will need new rings within 15.000miles. and a well serviced motor can exceed 150.000miles before the rings need replacing
