Sounds like a bad ignition switch have ur body control module checked for codes if u have a B2960 and or B3033 then replace the ignition switch.

SECURITY
If your vehicle has the remote keyless entry system, this feature allows you to select the method used to arm the vehicle's security system. When SECURITY appears on the display, press the reset button to scroll through the available settings:
* RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) (default): The content theft-deterrent system will arm when the lock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter is pressed or when the power door lock switch is pressed.

* PASSIVE: The content theft-deterrent system will arm itself 60 seconds after the ignition has been turned off and all of the doors have been closed.

I have a 2007 cadillac cts and the check antI theft system light is on car will start no gages working key will not come out. What could be causing this problem.

The key stuck in the ignition is either a bad lock cylinder or more than likely a bad ECM. I have the same problem but replaced the lock cylinder and new key, that changed nothing. If your Anti Theft light is on and traction control, no gas gauge nor temp gauge, ECM. More and more will quit working or go crazy in time until there is no power anywhere

How do you reset the anti-theft 1999 mountaineer

I dont think it's your anti theft. If you're having issues with it I would bypass it completely to eliminate that possibility allowing you to troubleshoot easier

My car quit while highway driving; now it wont restart. could this be an alternater problem?

The alternator only keeps the battery charged. So if the battery is dead, then yes the alternator could be at fault.
If the engine cranks but does not start, then the alternator is not involved.
And the anti-theft system would not kill the engine, only prevent it from starting.

Need to reset the theft system on gmc serria 04

relearn of key less entry is done by crank engine slightly, leave key on until theft light quits flashing. turn key off then try to start. if no start and light is still flashing, anti theft sensor in key tumbler or body module fault..

1998 sunfire in codep1629, how do I fix it

You may want to do some research on the code. The basic problem is the anti-theft system is not seeing a crank signal and shutting down the fuel pump. It could be the security system, or the crank sensor, or other issues.
If you have auto start or a remote starting system it can cause these problems too.

The van will start and run for about 2 seconds and quit i changed fuel pump, filter, distubitor, cam and crank sensors and module

Gm vehicles have been known to have faulty anti theft security systems. One of the symtoms of this is when your vehicle starts for 1-5 seconds and then stalls. A good way to know if this is the problem is when you see a light on the dash that says SECURITY. If you see this light flashing or on solid, this explains the van not starting. 99 chevy cavalier theft system light on steady, car wont crank.

My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!

Starts but quits

If the engine starts and then quits when you release the key to the ON position it could be the anti-theft systemhas locked out. Turn your key to the ON position and wait ten minutes until the ANTI-THEFT light on the dash board goes out. The car will now start and run if that was the problem.
