The dealer sells the plastic hold clips that holds the rods on there about 8 dollars i would get a new one at the junk yard be much cheaper it only 4 screws they are factory sealed unit they dont go out that often but will kill power to the engine and mpg

Where can I get a diagram of the intake manifold runner control?


Do a Web search under the terms (Your make, model, year vehicle) intake manifold runner. Or intake runner control solenoids, rods, etc. You may find Youtube videos.

The runners are sandwiched under or inside the intake manifold. Some had plastic clips which crumbled and the operating rods became disconnected. Some runners stuck too bad for the rods to move them.

I not familiar with a "intake manufacture runner control". Do you mean intake manifold? Not you sure what a runner control is though. Could give us some more detailed information?

Ford F140 4.2 Do Engine codes P0305, P0306, and P1518 relate to each other


I am assuming you mean F150 truck.
The answer is maybe.
Code 305 and 306 are missfire codes for cylinders 5 and 6.
Code 1518 is for a problem with the intake manifold runner control which could cause the other two codes.

P1518 FORD Description The Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) is monitored for failure during continuous or key ON engine OFF self-test.
Possible causes - Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) harness is open or shorted
- Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) actuator
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

This Code means that the Intake Runner Control on Bank One is stuck closed. An intake runner is a part which acts like a gate and diverts airflow inside the Intake manifold.

Some have control rods which attach with plastic clips and the clips break causing the control rod to unseat in its place. They may use solenoids that are electric or Vacuum controlled and the rods on these devices are what moves the runners.

Often you can take the intake manifold off and clean the runner or reattach the rods.

Intake manifold runner stuck open bank 1 how do i cure?


Usually the only way you are going to fix this is to remove the intake and clean the linkage for the intake mainfold runners-sometimes you can 'inhale' a bottle of Sea Foam into a vacuum line while the engine is running and it will loosen the butterflys enough to un-stick it, just do it slowly enough that you do not cause hydrolic lock-let it 'sip' the entire bottle, and thenm shut it down, allowind it to soak into the intake for 15-20 minutes. When you restart the car, it is going to smoke heavily-that is good, it is removing the carbon buildup in the intake, and it won't go away for a good 5-10 minutes. Drive it gently, then agressively to clean it out.and for good measure pour a bottle in the gas tank while it is low on fuel, and drive it for 12-15 miles like that. All of this may or may not fix the problem-like I said earlier, the sure-fire way to fix this is to disassemble the intake to get to the intake runners. You might be able to manually close the plates by pushing on the linkage at the intake manifold runner control solinoid, if you have enough room to get to it.

Buy some safe carbon thats carbon cleaner. You might want to take the intake mainfold off the car and clean it with Carbon cleaner spray inside with carbon cleaner and let disolve drain and wipe clean the best you can. When do cleaning reassembly. (Don't clean it on the car this could cause your plugs to foul out)

03 Ranger P2004 error


Ok, i had this same problem. On the driver side of the engine right under the intake mainfold there is a vacuum hose comming off the bottom of the intake, then going to a switch. if you trace the vacuum line going out of the switch it goes to the Intake mainfold Runner control. This vacumm line is made about 6 inches short and will tend to crack over time, poor design. replace the vacumm line and you back in business.
