Horn on 96 cavilier will not honk, just get a clicking sound, already checked fuse

That clicking sound should be your horn relay and to me that tells us that the problem is under the hood. If you remove the passenger side headlight you should be able to access the horn itself. If you take a rest light and probe the connector at the green wire and have someone honk the horn while you have the test light on the green connector and the other end clipped to a good ground source the light should light up. If so you will need to get a replacement horn, if not you need to look at the wiring between the horn connector and the firewall.

I have a 96 Cavalier and my passenger side low beam does not turn on (high beams OK) & my horn doesn't work either. I've replaced the bulb with no luck. Any suggestions?

The light socket itself could be bad. If you turn on the lights and put a meter on it you can verify there is power at the socket. If not you still have to trouble shoot some more. No power at socket could be wiring that went bad or melted but you will have to remove the socket and test the wires themselves. No power at the wire bare ends you have to go back to the fuse distribution and check that. Low voltage sucks for this very reason. good luck.

Where is the horn located on 1996 chevy calalier

on my 96 Cavalier, it's at the front, on the passenger side, and you can see it if you get under the car. Kind of in front of the tire (very near the front bumper).

The horn on my 96 Chev Cav is not working.

Before you buy a relay, look for one in the fuse box that is the same as the horn, and plug it in and try it, then you'll know what it is and what to buy.

My horn won't work on my 96 chevy cavalier and i don't even know where it should be located on this car.

The horn will be located under the hood of the car, for this model not sure where but it will usually be in 1 of 4 places.

Under the hood...
On the drivers side firewall
On drivers side wheel well or in front of radiator between the grill and radiator or passengers side same places except firewall.

Check to make sure the wire is still connected to it but unless work was recently done under the hood it's unlikely it would have just come loose.

Try checking the fusebox, there should be a diagram on the cover showing which fuse is for the horn. The fuse being blown is the most likely issue however there is usually a short somewhere that caused the fuse to blow and it will most likely happen again unless the short is found.

An electrical short happens when the wire coating is cracked or scraped away and making contact with bare metal.

Electric issues can be a big pain, even for seasoned mechanics so on this one I'd advise checking the horn wire or take it to the shop.

If your horn isn't working and it isn't the horn itself the next thing to check is the horn wire in the steering wheel under the air bag. The little clip breaks off in time and the horn wire pops out. To repair you can remove the wheel and replace the part but I usually grind in a new notch in the old plastic and re attach the wire and it will work again.
Test the horn itself first. Just remove the connection to the horn and attach 2 wires to a live battery and tough the 2 sides of the contacts on the horn. If it blows the horn is good. If not replace the horn before you go any further.
