How can I tell if my water pump is bad in my 2003 mitsubishi montero sport 3.5

If it is leaking coolant out of the weep hole it is bad, if the bearings are noisy it is bad, if the shaft and pulley wobble it is bad.

Need to locate and replace the water pump on 1997 nissan sentra.

The water pump is located on the passanger side of the engine. Look right below the timing chain cover and there is a pully and belt on the water pump. You will have to remove the water pump and thermostate together then seperate them after you get them off the car. I would recommend replacing the thermostate also (cheap fix). You will have to remove the belt and pully before you can remove the water pump. Hope this helps....

My 94 montero only heats when the engine is bing reved up. we have flushed the radiator and core and replaced the water pump and thermostate.and notheing is working.

i know you said you flushed the radiator i would flush the engine as well and make sure all is flowing good it also could be a blocked heater core flushing might help. whats happening when you idle up the engine you are forcing the water to flow through the restriction

Over heating

The water pump has what's called a 'weeping hole' built into it. If the pump is bad You'll se water coming out of the hole. When was the last time you flushed the radiator? It may be your radiator cap is bad, they should be changed once a year & the radiator flushed. You can also test ur thermostate. take out ur thermostate & put it in a pot of water so that the water covers the thermostate. Then put a cooking thermometer in the pot to & heat the water til it says 195. u should see the car thermostate begin to open. if it don't it's bad & needs replacing.

My lumina is geting hot because the water dont circulate

ONe of two things, your thermostate has gone bad or the water pump is bad. Regardless if your are going to change your water pump, it's a goos thing to change your thermostate too. Good luck.  The water isn't that hard to change on the 3.4 but the thermostate can be a pain.
