Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Ran out of gas and after putting gas in it now it will not start
Most likely the primer fuse went out...this used to happen to me all the time as I was a broke college student. If when you turn the key you can hear the pump under the driver side running...then try the primer fuse.

You will want to get a fuel pressure tester and test pressure at the fuel rail on the engine. If you have low or no pressure there is a good chance that the fuel pump is dead. Running a fuel pump dry will cause it to overheat and burn out.

SOURCE: ran out of gas and wont start
injection system may have air in it dont know much about this model try cleaning spark plugs by warming them up on a gas cooker not to much just warm clean them and try that might just be damp plugs but it sounds to me that there could be an air blockage in system some ford models diesels are notorious for not starting when the run out if possible check to see if there is any way you can see if there is any fuel getting to carb of inj system
