Sounds as if the coolant bypass tube is leaking or maybe the head gasket is bad this will give you an area to start looking in.

Engine coolant leaking, from top off left drivers

you don`t say what type of car or engine this is. if the leak is coming from the contact point of were the cylinder head contacts the engine block then this is probably the head gasket that needs replacing. you will have to check to see if its a coolant hose that maybe leaking and running along the hose dripping onto the motor in the area you see coolant.

Coolant leaking from passenger side of engine

Yes there would be a welsh plug in that area and it is probably rusted out.

Coolant leak, unknown location

There is a compression tester for the radiator. It is a special cap that fits on and you pump it up. This will allow you to look for the leak with the engine cold and not running.

I HAVE ANITFREEZE LEAKS FROM MY 2000 CHEVY S10 BLAZER. IT'S HARD TO TELL BUT THE LEAK SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE MOTOR RATHER THAN FROM THE RADIATOR OR ANY HOSE I CAN SEE.

a common V6 failure is the intake manifold gasket. coolant will usually leak behind the water pump on the drivers side, however it can leak at other locations on the intake manifold gasket.

coolant leaks from other areas include the heater core, hoses, expansion plugs, trans cooler, and coolant overflow tank.

I can smell coolant when heater is on and coolant light is on

Sounds like the heater core is leaking. Fill up the coolant and look under the carpet on the passenger side and see if there is not coolant there. IF it is a really minor leak you may be able to use a radiator fix, but do not buy something cheap and follow the directions. If one application does not seal it up, replace the heater core. It is not worth overheating the motor to try more of the sealer; it can clog the coolant passageways in the motor.

Hope this helps

Coolant leak in VW Golf mark 5 1.9 TDi auto DSG

There is, however, an air outlet into the driver's foot area. If the heater core is leaking, the air coming through the heater core will carry the droplets into the entire air ducting system. The driver's foot area may be the closest outlet. If it smells like coolant, you need to replace the heater core regardless of where in the cabin the coolant is coming out.

The water pump is mounted in the center passenger side of the motor possibly inside with timing belt but if it is leaking you will see the water and coolant in that area.
