Question about Acura TL

I bought a 2004 acura tl and put a newer 3.5 navi disc in and all it displays is the green banner reading "please check disc"? I can't get it to properly boot up or go away - please help.

No it doesn't appear there are any big scratches, but copying this size of a disc is going to take a long time. Isn't there anyway to reset and/or reboot the navi system?

I bought a newer 3.5 navi disc for my 2004 acura tl, when I put it in, nothing happened just the home screen with the globe picture was there, then this morning when I started the car the green banner "please check disc" is now up and won't go away - even if I remove the disc or put back in the older one. FYI - when I bought the car, the navi didn't display anything with the older 3.4 disc, but I could at least get to the audio screen. Is there anyway to reboot the system or diagnose it?

okay when I did that, it's still has the stupid green banner on the screen "please check disc" even before I put the disc back in. also, now I can't get the radio back on - it says the word "code" on the small display above the navi display screen, but nothing is on the navi screen except the green banner. now what?

  • kjobin May 04, 2010

I don't have a code because I bought it used, maybe its in the manual, but even if I did, I can't get to the screen because it won't change from the "please check disc" banner.

  • kjobin May 04, 2010

I actually found that code in the manual book, but since its stuck with the green banner "please check disc" - I cannot get past that screen. How do I bypass it?

  • kjobin May 04, 2010

I put in a newer 3.5 navi disc in my 2004 acura tl and the screen shows nothing except a green banner reading "please check disc". The disc looks fine, so another one of your experts told me to reset everything by unhooking my battery for 30 min. Now that I've done that the green banner is still stuck on the screen but now the radio won't even turn on. I think I need to enter the security code, but since I can't see anything on the screen what do I do now?

  • kjobin May 04, 2010

Thx would have been nice if you other so called 'expert' told me that before.

  • kjobin May 04, 2010

no it took 3 different so called experts, and all three had completely different answers and one put me in a worse position than I was before - no I'm forced to go to a dealership

On alot of cars when the battery is disconnected you loose navigation and only reprogramming it will fix it. Thats why there is a tool when replacing batterys that allow a 9 volt battery to be plugged into the cigeratte lighter and leaving the key on if the lighter only works with the key on is the proper way swap out the battery. This is also used for any car when radio memory needs to be saved. It sounds like your going to end up at the dealer

Hi! Please try this. Remove the battery connectors and leave it for 30mins. This should reset the system and probably will boot up properly. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Well if its asking for a code, I believe that you should enter it if you have it. This will make it work if you have the code. Its like a self protect of the unit.

Do they have a code where you bought it? They may have kept it. Can you call them and ask for the code?

Assuming your Disc player is functioning properly.
Check if the Disk has any scratches on it or marks.
Check if the disk is readable on a PC. If it can be read can you make a backup copy and reburn it on a good cd.
Also you can try to have the dealer try out the cd if he can read it on another unit. Good Luck

I just bought a 2004 Acura TL. Regular gas use?

Some cars actually require higher octane, if the manufacturer suggest higher octane for maximum effenciency your best advised to do so.

2004 Acura TL anti-thief radio code

You need to call the dealer, I had same problem. Now Honda
replaced my battery and I need the CODE for my NAVi!

Dealer where I bought doesn't have the code, nor does customer service.
Also no one has the SN....they say I have to pay to remove the Navi - Radio from the dash to fine the SN!......needless to say I'm NOT a happy camper!!!!..... All I need is the SN from the unit and then Acura will supply the Navi code.

Any suggestions anyone????

Navigation Code

True.  It is in the trunk under the plastic carpet.  You need to remove the bolts from the navi dvd and flip it over.  Write down the serial number and go back to the dealer.  Show registration of car and have car with you.  On 2005 and up cars with navi the tech can go to a secret tech screen and get the serial number.
