Heater valve or door might be stuck open allowing hot air to mix with cold.

Why can't I get cool air in my Mercury Sable?

There is no simple answer to this question. First I would need to know if the compressor is cycling on in the cold position on your dash with the engine running. If not, you have a blown fuse, no freon/low freon that has caused a pressure switch to lock out the compressor to prevent burnout. If the compressor is turning on and off constantly, you are just low on freon 134a. If this is happening, you have a leak somewhere and I would get an oil charge also.

Warm AIR comes out WHEN AC UNIT is on i just

Possible Low on Freon, Bad Compressor Clutchhead, Blown hose, which in turn let all the freon out. Manually power up the single wire going to the compressor with the car running and see if the compressor clutch head turns on. If so Odds are the compressor is good. Check all hoses and compressor for buildup of oil which would be assumed as a leak.

A/C Fan on a 1998 Mercury sable won't come on

It could be low freon and your compressor clutch is not engaging. Have someone turn on the AC while you look at the pulley at the compressor. Low pressure will cause it to "try" to engage or click and then shut down. AC is a "danger" item in self help manuals.

Air conditioning doesn't work. only blows out hot air

Check and see if the clutch on the front of your compressor engages. If not it could have a leak and not have any freon in it. If it has freon then you have an electrical malfunction on the ac system.

My ac on the 1998 mercury sable dont work i put a fuse in it that was blown but that didnt fix the problem im not getting anything when i turn the nobs on

Well there could be a problem with the switch itself or the system could be so low on Freon that it won't let the compressor kick on. Could be something wrong with compressor itself.

A/c compressor replaced but new one does not engage clutch

you need to jump the low freon switch to refill the system...this will turn on the clutch until you have freon in the system.
