Question about 1996 Honda Accord

Open Question

96 Honda accord dies, when slowing down.

On my 1996 Honda Accord, I replaced the intake manifold gaskets and cleaned the EGR valve and EGR ports. My problem now is it starts ok when engine is cold but it doesnt want to do any slow running at all. The engine stalls when i slow down, and runs pretty shitty. I have checked my vacuum hoses, and Im sure i replaced all removed parts and connections. And the check engine light is not coming on yet so i can accurately tell what the problem is. I have to say that think i might have gotten some engine degreaser inside the engine block while scraping off the old gasket. Please help fast.

My 91 honda accord drives fine, but after driving for a while it starts to hesitate and only drives when i accelerate and decelerate what's the problem?

If the car starts to hesitate at right around 2000 to 2300 RPMs then the EGR ports on the intake manifold need to be cleaned out. The exhaust gas is flooding only one cylinder and causing the hesitation(misfire of that flooded cylinder) since all the other ports are blocked off with carbon build-up. This happen right when the EGR valve opens, letting in the exhaust gas. To find out if this is indeed your problem, remove and plug up the rubber vacuum hose going into the EGR valve and drive the car. If it stops hesitating, that's the problem.

Whats does code P0401 mean ??

P0401 means insuffient EGR flow:

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation, which basically sends some of the exhaust back into the engine cylinder again. Your error means that there isn't enough of the exhaust gas making it back to the intake manifold.
The first thing I'd check is the tubes coming off of the EGR valve to make sure they aren't clogged or broken. Then I'd check the EGR valve itself and the throttle body. The problem is usually:
1.) Carbon buildup causing a clogging.
2.) Broken hoses.
3.) Broken Valve.

Best regards.

Degreaser typically won't really hurt anything unless it gets into a critical part. When you check for vacuum leaks, try it with a spray bottle of just water and spray around the entire intake and all hose connections. If the engine idles up , you've found your vacuum leak.

How to repair p0401 code for honda accord 98

The code is for a restricted EGR valve. You will need to take the valve off the manifold and clean out the ports.

I have a 2000 Honda accord with the 3.0 V-6. The engine light has been on so long that it burned out. Now it shows emission code and is dieing sometimes when I stop. I cleaned out the carboned up front...

Have the ODB II codes (computer error codes) pulled and reset. Some auto parts stores will do it for free. Make sure you write them down. You could need new spark plugs and/or wires.
