How do I adjust the handbrake on 2003 Kia Carnival

I have not checked a kia carnival but worked on most kia cars. There are two hand brake adjustments. One is at the hand brake lever. open up the hand brake cover and look for the nut adjuster where the end of the hand brake cable is attached to. Tighten up that nut until you find a comfortable hand brake position and the brakes locks.

the other adjustment is found at the rear brake drums. you have to remove the tires and tighten the adjusting nut behind the brake plates. there is a small hole, usually covered with a rubberized plug. remove that plug and adjust the brake with a flat screwdriver.

Remove the hand brake console and adjust the hand brake cable to the recommended standard, that is the hand brake should start engaging after pulling the lever up to 3 teeth.

How to tighten handbrake for a starlet

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If you want to tighten the hand brake you must lift the rear wheel. Remove the wheel and open the brake drum cover. After you open it you will see a round gearing. You will need to turn it using a flat head screw driver and hit it to make the gear turn.

This will tighten the hand brake and you can adjust it on how low or high you like it.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Ive got a ford fiester 1996 n reg and my hand break is not stoping me if im parked on a hill, do i need to ghange the break flud ?

no. you need to tighten the hand brake cable, or if the is tightened to the max already then you need to replace it with a new one.

brake fluid low will be indicated with alight when the car is switched on (the same light that is one when the handbrake is applied will stay on when the hand brake is released.

Anyways, the hand brake is cable operated. This is normal as with time the steel cable stretches since it is put under enormous stresses when engaged.

Have 2005 mustang, can the emergency brake handle assembly be tightened by removing consol

If you meant only the brake handle mountings then it is possible but if you mean for tightening the play on the hand brakes you will have to adjust from the bottom the play adjusters at the lever end so as to establish a good pressure for the hand brake to act..
