'97 Land Rover Discovery, the cruise control won't work. It never had a problem and then one day stopped working completely. The indicator light still comes on but it will not cruise! :)

There is a vacuum break switch that is located above the brake lamp switch and these sometimes come loose or just go bad. Also check the vacuum hose going to this switch.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How to DIY 2004 discovery cruise control not working?

land rover used a vacuum set up check the vacuum line at the actuator, usually crack at the actuator, cut end off and put back on. also check to see if brake lights are on all the time when key is on if so then brake switch, also would add check the fuse first and the vaccum pump may need replaced if you dont find anything with vacuum lines, fuse, brake switch, replace the actuator before you replace the pump.

Does the starter spin? Has the battery been load tested? Are the battery cables clean and tight on the the battery posts? Check all this and you will likely find one of them to be the problem.

I have a 97 discovery.i found lately the cruise control is not working and the rear electric windows not working either. I checked all the fuses all ok and i checked the the switches for the rear windows...

Me a sparky too - found this on another website and it worked - for rear windows - you need to find a switched hot and splice it into the white wire going into the electric window ECM located on the far right side under the glovebox (I removed the glovebox, 4 7mm bolt on bottom to make easier). the white wire is staring right at you when you pull the glovebox out on the right side - part of a wire connector with wires going into it. 12 gauge.

2003 land rover discovery cruise control system

if it stopped working make sure your brake lights aren't on. If they are you have a bad brake switch (located under the brake pedal). It's easy to replace. If the lights are not on check the vacuum hose isn't split coming off the intake area. easy fix as well.

My 1996 land rover discovery is started having problems with warm starting a few days ago. It misfires a few times and will not start. If i wait 10 to 15 minutes it starts right up. Now it will not start...

my cruise controll and blinkers will not work, and my rear air bags went down when the car was lifted up for and alignment and i can not get them to air back up.

2002 Land Rover Discovery starts but idles rough. accelerates but bucks at cruising speed. solid service engine light at a stop. flashing service engine light when feels like it's loading...

BAD spark! check plugs wires and coil packs. the wires are a real pain to replace because of the location of the coil packs between the intake manifold and firewall.

No vacum to cruise control

make sure you dont have a vacuum leak first, before you replace the switch. The number one cause of cruise control dropping out on these older range rovers is a leaking vacuum hose.

2004 Land Rover Discovery that I cannot get into low range

Unfortunately, the Low/High Range selector linkage on these vehicles freezes up very easy if not used regularly. If you had tried everything else, including trying to shift at a very slow speed, the only answer is usually to take apart the selector linkage, grease it and replace the bushings. This is quite an involved job and takes the better part of a day.
