When is the last time you replaced your thermostat? If it hasn't been replaced within a year chances are it's siezed, blocking total flow of coolant.

over heating will probably be the cause of most problems as it sends the ECM crazy with so many sensors inputting information
If you have a viscous fan hub then replace it as it is the prime cause of overheating .have a compression test done to check head gasket and cracks

SOUND LIKE COOLANT FANS HAS A FAULTY THERMO SWITCH LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR ON LEFT HAND SIDE.CHECK THE FUSES 8 IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHECK FUSE 16 IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX.WHEN ENGINE OVERHEATING IF BOTH COOLING FANS WORKING.OVERHEATING PROBLEM COULD BE BLOWN HEAD GASKET.CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK HEAD GASKET LEAKING.SEE WHEN YOU DRIVING LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS THE COOLING FANS SUPPOSE TO BE RUNNING.IF THEY NOT RUNNING THAT IS YOUR OVER HEATING PROBLEM.

Its overheating and leaking, just changed the part

The overheating should be because of the leak in the radiator hose which isnt allowing the coolant to circulate through your engine. You should let your car run for a few minutes and give it some gas and then check out all the hoses and see if there is a small leak. Also your radiator fan could be malfunctioning so as your engine heats up its not able to cool down its just continues to heat up. Keep an eye out for the leak and the fan
Hope this helps
Have a nice day

Overheating

If the car is overheating and no A/C cold air output. Im sure the radiator fan is faulty. very common problem for overheating condition. If the car is over heating and the radiator fan is not on replace the radiator fan high and low speed it will fix your A/C problemn too. Hope this helps please rate if it does.

Car overheating

First, plastic tube may be the overflow vent from the coolant bottle.Check to see where the attached end goes. You are going to have to check engine for coolant leaks (carefully refill system without spilling anything, then look for dripping anywhere. Look for leaks from all hoses, fittings radiator, water pump etc) After checking for leaks, start it up and check again (watch where you put your hands though) While running, check that the fan comes on when the vehicle reaches operating temp.(no fan, check fan motor, sensor & relay) Turn the heat on (does it have heat?) Check temp of lower hose and upper hose. If overheat happens, is lower hose still cold? (likely bad thermostat). If you found a leak, replace whatever is leaking...best insurance is to change thermostat after any overheat. Last, is there any white smoke from tailpipe, does engine run rough? If so, could be a failed head gasket or crack in cylinder head. (at this point last thing to worry about unless there is excessive smoke or rough run or oil in radiator or coolant in oil).

Overheating problems in a 2006 Pontiac Torrent

Another possible cause is your coolant sensor. if the sensor goes bad, it will drip coolant but won't notice it because it just seeps down the engine components. Most people don't even realize that there is such a sensor. it will send a faulty reading that its overheating when the coolant level is fine and when enough coolant does seep out it will still say its overheating because it is at that point. I would definitely look into checking your coolant sensor as the cause since it's so hard to even see that it is leaking and its super easy to take out and replace. hope that helps if you're still having problems
