My first suggestion would be contact your local dealer to see if they can cut a key by VIN under key code inquiry if not you will need a VERY SHARP and good quailty drill bit, hammer, punch, and some good luck...In some cases we are able drill the lock pin just be very careful not to damage thr aluminum housing.Oh yeah better wear safety glasses

2002 Olds Olero /replace ignition switch

remove your radio, there will be 2 bolts to undo, switch will slide into dash, unplug harness turn key to remove cable, if ignition wont turn you may have to take ignition apart to remove cable. reinstall in reverse procedure. will need to relearn new key to be able to start. try to start, leave key in run position, theft/security light will be blinking. leave on for 15 min or light stops blinking, turn off turn back to run without trying to start. leave on for another 15 min. turn off then start

How I take out my ignition switch without the key.

hi.

the ignition units on all modern cars are designed so they cannot be removed without the key.
you normally need to turn the ignition to position I or II before you can remove the ignition.

without the key, you would normally need to change the steering lock assembly.
also, the key in most new cars has a security chip inside the key itself to confirm the identity of the key itself, and if you replace the key, you would normally need to have the ignition module reprogrammed to accept any new keys.

without a key, you will almost certainly need to get a professional to sort this out.

SAfter shutting off the truck, radio and fan continue to run. Also, went out the other morning and found radio running without keys in the ignition. I tried replacing the relay switch in the fuse box. ...

Check and make sure the ignition switch is not worn out and allowing you to remove the key when the switch is turned backwards in teh accessory position. once the key is removed and the radio is staying on, turn the ignition without the key in it, both directions and see if it shuts off, if it does, menas work cylinder or key.

2000 Malibu an Remove Key without turning off

if you wish to replace your ignition key tumbler  i go to an auto recycler and find a similar make of car with the keys still in it and pull off the steering wheel  to do this you need a socket about 1 inch or 1 1/8  1/4  1 3/8  or so  once the nut is off  you need to hammer the center bolt down while pulling up on the steering wheel with your knees etc  or have a second person help   if you have a puller it may help   remove the ignition (you need the key to do so  then find the locking pin  press it when you are able to while turning the key   now take apart your car and reverse the procedure

We need to replace the ignition, the key is missing

If you still have the Owner's Manual it may have the key number in it. Any locksmith can cut you a key knowing the code. Also try a Chrysler dealer. They may be able to retrieve the key code using your VIN. I don't believe there is a way to remove the lock cylinder without a key, unless you want to screw a dent puller/slide hammer into the lock and slam it out. Highly NOT recommended! Could try a used steering column from the junkyard????
