this is tough to tackle if you dont know your way around a car then i would advise you not to do it. What are you asking for exactly, you cant expect us to answer that can you?

1 Answer

You can not do that on your back in the drive way.
Your best bet is a trans shop
Rebuild yours or put in a Certa (reman)
Thats what happens, when you believe the TV Ads and owners manuals, and don't change the fluid every two years or 30,000mi

Why won't transmission engage after an oil line blew?

Most likely the fluid level is low. You need to check the fluid level with the vehicle running on most models and add as neccessary

Radio fuse blew, speedometer quit working. After replacing fuse the speedometer is very sluggish (goes up fast down slow)

You may need a new Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is located on the Transmission on the Passenger side out-put shaft housing.

Why do i need a new transmission with only 120,000 km?

Transmissions are only new one time, off the assy line

Yours is rebuilt locally or you install a reman

I never saw that happen years ago when I owned a trans shop

Doesn't matter what happened you need at least a new case

I would install a factory reman or one from Jasper Engine & Transmission

What you need to do is drain all the oil in the gearbox of transmission.
Replace with a NEW solenoid kit and put in NEW transmission oil. Recycle the old oil at your local mechanics shop.
If you don't change the oil, the old oil will cause the solenoid to stick.

Driving car when rpms went high while on cruise control pulled over left car running put in park waited a few minutes put into drive and car would not move

Blown transmission pump or transmission line. Ford has a bad habit of letting one of the transmission lines hang low and it may have gotten pulled free. Check your transmission fluid level. If your empty you blew a line, if your full you blew the transmission pump. I have a 2005 escape and had to get under it and secure a transmission line that was hanging low 2 days after I bought it. You see this all the time on fords.

Blew cooler line repaired got drive no reverse

The only thing transmission related to the lines you replac ed is the fluid.Even if they are put on backwards it would have no effect on the transmission,so either you are low on fluid or it's a new problem not related to the lines.

New engine for '92 Camry wagon?

a new engine is $25-35,000 dollars(if Toyota even has them) The rebuilt engines are very good. 3 yrs-unlimited miles on repairs/replace engine. Get a name brand engine like Jasper or Atk or BulletProof or Gopher. These ARE Toyota engines rebuilt(sometime better than original) The transmission has evidently been a great one(mine has 185,000 miles).

You've done great on this car. But to replace engine and transmission; you looking labor and parts:$7-8,000. If you fix it, it will last forever, and you'll know it's good.

Or you could buy a certified used Toyota, and buy an extended warranty.

The only other thing is to buy new-$20-25,000 for a new Camary v/6 ( I don't know if they even make the wagon anymore)

I hope this has helped. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Auto transmition wont go into 3rd and 4th gear

I had the same problem I changed the transmission fluid & put a new filter in the trans, this fixed it good until I put my foot down to overtake the trans kicked down to 2nd gear & the hold light started flashing again & the trans started slipping again. I stressed over it for a day or 2 & then I took it out for a drive & thrashed it, Low & behold it came right. When you change fluid its impossible to get all the old fluid out because the torque converter holds a liter or two under pressure, so when I put my foot down some of the gunk blew through & blocked the pump it looses pressure & cant change gear. You need to get it flushed by a transmission specialist
