Question about 2006 Chevrolet HHR

2 Answers

I have a 2006 Chevy HHR, bought used about two years ago. We already replaced the keyless remote one (at $90) and it won't work again. New batteries didn't help. When you use the key on the door (rather than the remote) the alarm goes off until you put the key in the ignition. Is there a way to stop this?

The HHR and several other Chevy models can not program their own remote. They must be programmed by a dealer of locksmith with the right machine. Dealers charge 50 to 100 bucks. Chevy went cheap and didn't build in a programming radio.

Many times the electronic circuit board is ok but the contacts on the underside of the button membrane will go bad. You can buy a replacement shell and just use the new rubber membrane over the old circuit board, eliminating the need to reprogram. There are no real switches in the FOB.

You are going to need to recalibrate the remote to the vehicle. As long as the remote works correctly which i think it should. It will actually tell you how in the owners manual. I am not current with the HHR as i have not worked on one yet. They must be reliable!

Try pressing and holding the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for 15 seconds and see if the remote will 'resynchronize' with the vehicle.

Where is located the keyless module in Chevy Uplander 2006

Have you tired reprogramming the remotes top work the module first, that is what must be done before any parts are replaced, they do loose programming for no apparent reason at times. This can be causes by an electrical magnetic pulse of some sort.

Remote problem

there is no seperate battery in the car for the keyless entry system, either the remote needs to be re-programmed at a dealer with the proper scan tool or the remote itself is bad.

2006 Malibu: It had been taking me longer and longer to open the car doors with the keyless remote, so I replaced the battery. Now the remote will only open the trunk and will not lock or unlock the car...

I have the exact same problem. When I went to a chevy dealer today, they told me when they tested it that who ever replaced the battery busted the solder on the door lock and unlock buttons. So now I am looking for a new one. They are 50 dollars cheaper on the web I hear.

2006 Chevy Equinox

Hiya...the factory-installed keyless remote control are installed in most Equinoxes IF SO equipped with this option that year.
However, it's difficult to get "true factory-installed" keyless feature in your Equinox ....but new 2008-2009 Equinoxes built this year now comes with standard keyless remote and yes, new option is remote STARTER feature (that option is identified by a black wire found inside the rear-right quarter window with thin metal line surrounding that interior window to receive signal from remote starter fob)

At least you can find after-market keyless remote control at your local retail store.

I had the same exact problem and fixed it by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. I was also having a problem with the A/C compressor not kicking in and after the battery disconnect it is working fine.
