First disconnect the negative wire frim the battery. then look on the front side of transmission about middle ways to locate vehicle speed sensor. disconnect the electrical plug from sensor. remove the retaining bolt and lift the vehicle speed sensor from the transmission. replace in the reverse of removal.

96 dodge caravan speedo doesnt work all "prndl1" lit up. doesnt shitft after 2nd gear. p0500 and p1698 cel codes. what is it?

check and change the speed sensor also check the solenoid shift pack! on the lower front side of the tranny

2001 Dodge Caravan Transmission Question.

IF your van is front wheel drive only, the transmission is indeed a 3 speed A413. If your van is all wheel drive, your transmission is a 4 speed A604. Capacity is 4 quarts or so.

Transmission input speed sensor location

It is located on the front of the transmission. you will see 2 of them one on the left under small transmission lines it is the input then to the right behind the radiator overflow there is the other one. Easiest way to change them is with a 1" deep well socket
