Question about 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX
I have a 96 thunderbird 3.8 L v6 automatic. When I drive it and it shifts into 2nd or 3rd it slips revs up to about 2500 or 3000 then turns the car off. Is the transmission gone? If so how do you need an engine hoist to drop the transmission? If not can new trans fluid and lucas help the problem?
Never add anything to an automatic trans but the correct fluid.
New fluid will make it slip worse
Lucas-is a waste of money and may ruin your trans.
You may get away with removing the valve body and cleaning it.
I would suggest a trans repair shop, but don't let them sell you on rebuilding yours until they try the valve body, unless the fluid is burn't,then your done, as you already should know
