How to disengage Park into neutral to push/tow van

sure you can the operator guide on all cars glove box there.
shows park neutral lock out.
Key on, step on brake key on, shift to neutral. (battery not dead)
do not tow it with steering lock enabled. that be horrible.
all cars have a chapter on towing,
wheels up or down front or rear up or down or flat towed

and with RWD and wheels on ground rear, the towing distance is limited to 200 miles or less. so when the rear transmission bearing runs dry and not burns up, < all you need to know there!
most transmissions made (not my 64 Pontiac rotohydramatic)
has the 200 mile limit, the transmission has no rear tail shaft pump now days, ALL TOW shops know all this stuff.
Same with 4wd and same reasons
my Jeep i can tow it 200miles, called flat towing but must stop and start engine every 200miles to add lube to the rear.(tranny shafts)
flat towing is the hard job and I bet you meant flat towed.
and hope only short distance,

lost the key?
battery dead Not told?
best is leave key turned on , hold foot brake, shift to N and then key off but do not set the steering lock ever. (pause and think now)
for some jobs (ask U-hual) they have a bar the locks the steering to FRONT, hard locked, so cars KEY lock can not engage.. towed.
if battery is dead ,jump it. then go to neutral
some cars vast the same manual
shows how to defeat the P/.N lock with a secret part of the shifter console we push that, and P/N is defeated just for towing.
we have no Iveco 3.5 ton curtain sider , in USA
nor any year told
ask the make for the manual on your car in YOUR country
"Today it is marketed in 110 markets around the world" but not USA

Is it the shift solenoid?

sure if some one spilled a coke or worse
in the console, sure those lock parts can rust and jam, 24years if kids driving, sure...
why not take off the console and see the mess?
the coke has acid in it that can even rust the cable. and all parts there of metal.

if you had read the operators guide, it tells you the super secret magical bypass for park lockout, defeating IT, in an emergency.
Is this YOUR "PIN"

the PRNDL switch can be bad, unplugging it makes it 10x worse. (signals not in park, FAILS harder. )
(deductive thinking only works if you know the logic, there)
for sure it's just 3 parts, lock, cable ,trans,
one is jammed, and very easy to diagnose.
here's me page. (assumes the bypass fails)
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/shiftlock/ParkLock_fails.html

the operators guide covers this secret bypass.
92-98 year. and beyond, after 2004 or so it became iLLeggall, this LEVER bypass thinks to fed rules. (asinine) my wifes 2004 has it too.

The lever bypass works !, so you can drive.
then later say on Saturday , you do this.
unlike above posters, try this. (in order)
brake lamps on rear of car dead? #1 all time cause.
blow fuse for brakes
bad brake lamp switch, lamps both dead.
next is park neutral switch must closes.
then the shift lock relay energizes (12vdc across coil)
see wiper fuse it runs the relay. so do wipers work.
then the relay sends 12vdc to the park lockout Solenoid coil.
and it energizes this coil ,releasing the park lever to move. (ill guess coil ohms at 30)
end (dead soleniod)

how is that for real facts no guessing.?

if the cable snaps. the PRNDL switch will be dead.
so yes, make sure the cable works 1 for 1.
hand to trans,
if the cable rusts, then spray penetrating oil there
not useless wd40; real PEN. oil.
and free it up. once free i use gun oil there.
(lasts longer)

if you had used what the book told you, (bypass lever flipped)(seems you did?)
you'd have seen the transmission works perfectly and not be cable snapped.

If you have a volt meter all this is childs play.
for sure and if you do,, then ask help with meter, its super easy to use.

my guess is lock jammed or cable rusted, (both easy to diagnose or fix) (pin = lever bypass)

My gear shifter gets stuck in park..on my 2008 dodge caliber

All cars have a release button on the shift column for towing. Look for a little square or circle nee your shifter that you can pop the plastic piece off of. Usually you can stick a key or somethin to press the button down and put the car into any gear. I donf know if that helps you for now. You might also wanna make sure you have your foot on the brake when your tryin to put in into gear. Some. Newer carz wont lt you shift out of park unless you are pressing the brake.

Automatic shift stuck park

flat towed, in park is not possible
the shift console, has an emergency park lockout, release feature
what is broken, unsaid.??????
the lost operators guide covers both towing rules
and shows that emerg. button location. use it and shift the shifter to neutral.
the front wheels are locked in park.
the problem with flat towing any car are many.
steering lock failure. (locks in motion)
transmission oiling , when the engine is not running the
transmission pump is dead, and oil lube is lacking to many critical areas..
page 163 here covers, the magic switch (emg)
http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM12656U/pdf/4.pdf

page 160 is tow.
no flat towing.
it can be towed on its rear wheels all day long.

the transmission issues, can be very serious.
do no listen to some dweeb saying gee i towed min 500 miles the wrong way, do not. he never rebuilt a transmission in his life and dont understand how it works deep inside.
page 161,
Never tow a vehicle with an automatic
transmission from the rear with the
front wheels on the ground, as this
may cause serious damage to the
transmission.

page 162, emergancy towed with chains (flat)
short distance with a driver in the seat
in neutral. , ACC position at key switch.
obviously if the key switch parts, are bad, this dont work and would be
very dangerous to all person, in car, towing, and me on the road.

My 99 Jeep grand cherokee coolant boiling/steam.

This could be a lot of things. If you dont use the right mix of coolant and water it can overheat. The raidiator cap might be bad, the fans might not be working, the thermostat might be stuck, the raidiator might be gummed up with deposits. The big worry now is whether or not you have a blown head gasket or warped the head.
