Just about every rearview mirror is now attached to the windshield with a special glue. Normally there is a metal piece that the mirror stem actually attaches too. To fix this yourself, you want to do is visit a local auto parts store and pickup a kit to reattach the metal piece to the windshield. Do not try super glue, it will not hold. Follow the directions on the kit for an easy repair.

Rearview mirror on 2004 Chevy trailblazer is loose wont stay in position, looks like a round clip has popped out to hold mirror in place

The round metal piece needs to be glued to the windshield. Specific glue is sold at any autoparts store. Once glued in place, the mirror slides onto it.

How to stop my mirror from shaking in my car?

I am working on the same problem. Hardware store guy said to get some rearview mirror adhesive and put a few drops all around where it goes onto the windshield mount and hold it steady until it sets up. Have not tried that yet.

REARVIEW MIRROR HOW I CAN INSTALL

Typically the auto store will have a special adhesive for the base of the mirror to the windshield. It's a little glass 2-part system that you have to break and mix then apply it. You hold it onto the windshield with pressure applied for a minute or so, then slip the mirror over it with the clip they usually use to hold them in place. The adhesive is usually under $5. Good luck

How do I attach a review mirror for a 1994 thunderbird lx

Go to an auto parts store and buy rearview mirror adhesive. Your rearview mirror will separate from the small mounting piece that adheres to the windshield. Clean off the glass where it will sit. Follow the directions on the adhesive package and install the mount on the windshield. Once it dries, install the mirror on the mount. Rearview mirror adhesive is one of the most powerful adhesives on the market. Don't use anything but rearview mirror adhesive or the mirror will not hold.

Do you have to remove the small metal plate off of the rearview mirror to place back on the windshield after it has fallen off?

no but it is much easier, because you will not have the weight of the mirror to hold while the glue sets

Rearview mirror fell off windshield! Not broken...

the mirror should simply slide over the metal mount (button) that is glued to the window.

loosen the set screw on the mirror mount...

hold the rear view mirror mount on the glass just above the metal mount (wide end of plastic opening facing down)

slide it into place...
secure it by tightening down set screw you loosened earlier.

INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR FELL OFF

Just about all auto parts stores carry a little kit that includes slovent and glue to replace the metal "nub" onto the glass. There is a screw on the mirror that attaches the mirror to this "nub". Do not use force to remove the old glue or nub, windshield will crack.

Custom Rear view mirror

Hiya...ALL factory-installed rearview mirrors are installed with different wires due to options.
About 6 different rearview mirrors are installed with those options such as On-Star, light, compass, and those features which use different wires....THIS CANNOT be modified with different rearview mirror....**for example, the Equinox owner attempt to pull out a factory-installed base rearview mirror and put in different one that has compass/temperature built into the rearview mirror**

However, the wires are located inside the front headliner which requires removing the sunvisor (and possible removal of interior plastic trim part at the left/right ends of the windshield) prior to pull the headliner down, and a small metal philips or torx screw is used to secure the rearview mirror onto the bracket glued to the windshield.

The best solution is to leave the original factory-installed rearview mirror in place.
