Question about 1991 Ford F150

When i un plug the tps runs smooth but lopes when its plugged in sometimes noticed i am not getting but 3v when the book says 5v

It shouldn't. The TPS sensor is voltage based on throttle position. If the plugs are bad, you should get a separate cylinder misfire code only. If you are getting a TPS code, it is likely the TPS. Remember too, it is an electronic TPS, so there is a sensor on the accelerator pedal assembly that it talks to. Make sure that's plugged in. What you can do is with the vehicle in the on position (not running) - push the pedal all the way to the floor a few times. Also, clean out the throttle body and ensure there is no gunk preventing the throttle body from opening smoothly and all the way. Good Luck.

Is the throttle plate closed all the way? The 4v wide open is a little low and the .6 closed maybe a little high. The wide open should be 4.5 -5 v. Are you reading 5v at the tps plug with the plug unplugged from the tps? Pretty much , what is going in should be close to what wide open should be.

Ok when i stop at a light i have this lope but if i sit there for a few it will smooth out for 2 or 3 seconds then go back to loping at a constant speed it is smooth but if i try to give it a little gas it...

Car barely holds an idle and sometimes stalls when coming to a stop

There could be several causes for your stalling problem.
  • Bad plugs
  • Bad wires
  • Clogged fuel injectors
  • Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
  • Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
A basic tuneup would rule out the plugs and wires. Fuel injector cleaner will clear most clogged injectors. Once ruled out (or if the car is running smooth apart from stalling at a stop) the most common problems are MAF and TPS.
The TPS in particular regulates idling speed under all conditions. Included in this would be while the engine is warm. If your car wants to stall unless your foot is on the gas, I'd lean toward the TPS.

Very rough idle. Engine lopes badly. No codes show when key turned 3 times on / off (left on @ 3rd time). Only thing that shows in odometer area (where codes would display) is the word "done"....

I doupt it's the cam sensor. they don't work that way. I would check the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve and the IAC ( idle air control) motor. Both of these will cause a large vacuum leak and make your lope. you can try uplugging them , then plug them back in to see if this makes them work. happens sometimes, bad connection. If that doesn't work I would remove them and clean them first, move the plunger in them. they get stuck sometimes. when you have off you can plug the holes on the engine and start it. see if that gets rid of your problem. I would start with the IAC motor first. The IAC motor is located on or near the throttle body. The EGR is on the intake and will have a flex tube running to the exhaust manifold.

Will not start or ideal without given throttle, runs fine at 1500-2000 given it throttle. have changed fix vacum leak,new fuel pump,TPS,crankshaflt,camshaft position sensor,IAC value and pcm. still getting...

If you are still getting the TPS code after replacing it I would start tracing back wires that are related to that sensor. Check for broken or shorted wires or bad fusible links that have corroded. I tend to find a lot of these kinda problems in the harness under the battery or in the wheel well. Can be very hard to find. Good luck
