Question about Cadillac DeVille

After changing plugs, wires and dist. cap, spraying carb. and using lifter cleaner in gas (mechanic's idea) still have bad miss and poor ideling. location of fuel filter & PVC?? suggestions???

Gas, air, spark. Keep it simple. Is it spark? Could be bad gas. Put some gas from the fuel line to make sure it's clean. I recommend

It runs rough sometimes it dies, I have tuned it up , plugs dist cap, wires rotor the computer , It has very poor gas milage .it has a 2300 with automatic trans,

have the intake gasket checked. spray carb/choke cleaner around intake gasket and if rpms change then you have a bad gasket which causes rough idle bad fuel econ

I have a 2001 blazer that is throwing a P0306 code which to my understanding is a misfire on cylinder 6. I sprayed carburetor cleaner through a vacuum line which was suggested by a local mechanic to clean...

the only reason it stoped missfiring when idleing was cause your moter was running off the extra boost of the carb cleaner try replacing the plugs and wires before doing that again boss. and you can fid out if its a hard miss by power braking put it in drive and keep your foot on the brake then increase the gas till the car tire just starts to slip if it misses really bad u have a hard miss caused by a coil pack or really worn spark plug or bad plug wire.

easy. you have a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. spray some lubricant along the gasket at 5 & 7. should stop missing if leak is on the outside. but if on inside it wouldn't make a difference. I vote to change the intake gasket. I'm having to do the same with a astro van.

My 78 Jeep CJ5 Runs badly once it warms up

The systems that run that engine are relatively simple and straightforward.
Your carburetor is adjustable, using a vacuum gauge and simply turning the air screw in and out till you get the highest reading without causing any shaking or missing. (sometimes helpful to remove the screw and spray carb cleaner into the hole before starting this. turn screw back all the way in till it just bottoms, then back off about 2 1/2 turns for starting point.Make sure the choke is opening all the way when its warmed up and make sure that no gasoline is seen dripping inside the inlet while it's running. Use carb cleaner to locate any vacuum leaks at manifold to head gasket. If rpm changes when sprayed, change that gasket.
Check your engine timing. Check the distributor shaft for side play that will change dwell angle and cause missing. Make sure points, cap rotor wires and coil are good. Make sure the points are properly adjusted and not burned.
Especially on an older engine, it's important to do a compression test to make sure that all cylinders are within 20% of each other. A blown head gasket, sticking or worn rings will definitely cause poor running. Most homeowners don't have a cylinder leakdown meter. Having that test done is also a good idea when faced with a potential internal problem.
"reading" spark plugs is also a good idea when tracing problems, especially in older engines where a computer is not compensating for and "covering up" anything. Plugs should be light tan after a few days of running. Black or excessively white porcelain around the electrode tells you a lot about what is going on inside the combustion chamber and will tell you which cylinders to look at. Pulling wires off each plug one at a time can also give you a good read on which cylinders are not correctly firing.
You didn't give any specifics as to what you have already tested, so, check everything I mentioned.

No power, runs poorly

Double check to make sure you didn't cross any of the spark plug wires, also, you should ppen the carb and drain out any old gas/moisture that may have accumulated in the bowl. I recommend buying a carb rebuild kit and a spray can of carb spray cleaner and cleaning all jets, orofices etc and the bowl and getting fresh fuel in the carb.
You can also run some crankcase cleaner in to your oil. If it's set for a long time, your oil can get sludgy and you may want to run a crankcase cleaning product in the oil and then get the oil changed.. That will get all the hydraulic lifters opened up and pumping and might solve some of your issue.

Check for carbon tracking on plug and wire. Looks like a pencil mark. Replace both at the same time

Just off the top of my head, guesses: Given what you've already done and the high mileage, could be carb, but I'd start with fuel filter and a good additive like Sea Foam. Also, you might want to replace the PCV and any other sensors which may be suspect.

2000 astro van running bad

Try cleaning the trotle body at the butterfly,they tend to carbon up and not let proper air mixture at idle,tailtail sign some times is feels like the throtle pedal sticks or pops when depressing it.

Missing while idel

It is probably a bad coil, have someone put it on a computer and see what cylinder is missing. The coils go bad all the time on the 5.4's
