There is a button on the dashboard of my 1999 Rav 4 "EGT". What is it and how is this feature used?

The ECT button (which stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission")
changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
is OFF.

I have a 2006 rav 4 and my in cab temperature gauge has collapsed inside the dashboard, how do I get it out?


start pulling the dash section out it will take 3 to 4 hours have new
parts ready to be swapped out

1999 toyota rav 4 engine oil cooler bolt torque setting


INSTALL OIL COOLER
-clean the oil cooler contact surface on the oil cooled mounting
-install a new O-ring to the oil cooler.
-temporarily install the oil cooler with the nut
-apply a light coat of engine oi on the threads and under the head of the relief vale
-install the plate washer and union bolt. torque 78Nm (800kgfcm, 58 ft lbs.)
-tighten the nut,torque 8.8Nm (90kgfcm, 78 inch lbs.)
-connect the 2 water bypass hoses to the oil cooler.

SOMETIMES THE DIAGRAM IS ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD. OR ON THE WHEEL WELLS INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CHECK UNDER THE HOOD ANYWHERE A STICKER COULD BE. IT MIGHT ALSO BE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL.

You do in fact have to take most of the dash board off. Actually it's not that drastic but you do have to take the glove box out and possibly the center console of the dash. Then you can get to it. Not easy, but not too hard. Lots of screws is all.

hi sounds like your screen or tranny filter needs to be changed check maintaince records last time done what you can do while vehicle is running pull tranny stick smell fluid does smell a little like paint thinner what color is it is light pink to brown needs to be changed
