I think you mean a relay with 5 connection points. Somewhere on the relay should be printed a schematic of the internal wiring. You can check it's operation by using a 12 volt source and a volt/ohmmeter.

Where is the horn relay located?


It more than likely under the hood. It is a 3 prong relay. Most relays have 5 or so prongs, so look for that. Also you normally find a cover over it and the underside shows details. You have checked fuses right?

Door ajar light stays on when all doors are closed


After long hard research I found the problem to these explorers and f150s etc. Fuse 17 is overloaded with electronics and when the wire that's ran to that circuit gets hot it causes glitches with the electronics. Ford set the harness up to fuse 17 like a outlet with a dozen plugs. You have constant and ignition wires ran off the same circuit. The wires are crossed up in the harness and ocaasionally glitch when overheated. Ford should have designed it better. I found a solution which I created which is a bypass to this problem that Ford designed. First sit in the driver's seat and look to the left of your windhield. you should see a pillar or column in the corner of the vehicle. It's in between the windshield and the driver door. Get a flat head screwdriver and remover the column in the corner. you should see a green harness. Disconnect harness and turn your key forward to make sure your windows work. If they do, good, if not check your fuse. The problem is in the top harness. This is where the short or overload is located. Remove your top console or overhead domelamp fixture in the front of the vehicle. Unhook it completely and remove the center panel where your radio is located. On the back of the radio you should see the radio harness and the wires should be labeled. Unhook the negative battery cable and splice into the "ignition switch wire" on the back of the radio. If not sure you can look it up online "Ford explorer radio wiring diagram." Get a 16 gauge wire or regular speaker wire and twist it to the igntion wire. Secure the bond with duct tape or wire caps so they don't come aloose or touch metal. run the wire to fuse number 28 which should be "radio start". strip a piece of wire on the opposite end that's not connected. The one that's going to fuse 28. Pull fuse 28 out and stick the wire into the outlet where the fuse goes. You will need a test light for this to determine which side is the hot side. Stick the wire into the hot side of the fuse outlet. put fuse back in on top of the wire. The fuse should stuff the wire down into the outlet when inserting it. Hook up the battery cable and twist forward, the radio should come on. If not check fuses or connections. The bottom green harness is where power is ditrubuted to the rest of the electronics in the vehicle. If you look at the harness on the inside you should see prongs or metal looking teeth on the inside. The second prong from the top is what powers the dome lights. test to make sure,put a test light on the second prong with the door open. If it lights up continue to hold it with the door closed and it should go off with your rear dome lamp that should be working. at the bottom of the prongs you should see square holes. stick the test light into the square hole under the prong you tested. It should light up. Get a paper clip or cotter pin and some more speaker wire and bond the wire to the clip or cotter pin by wrapping the wire around it at the end where the loop is located. Once you done that stick the pin or clip into the square hole firmly. On the domelight fixture there is a harness that connects to it that has a black wire,a blue/black wire and two green and yellow wires. Unhook the battery cable again and cut the harness about 4-5 inches and hook the wire that's hooked into the bottom green harness to the blue/black wire on the lamp fixture. hook the black wire up to a good ground on the harness. you can use the top or bottom harness for a good ground. hook up battery cable and open the door and presto!! you should have light. If not check your bulbs and check the metal connectors that the bulbs sit in with your test light to make sure there is continuity there. If you have a sunroof or vanity lamps they can all be hooked up the same way in this bypass procedure. Get some more wire,cotter pins or paper clips and go through the prongs with your test light to hook it all up with this bypass method.

Cigarette lighter doesn't work. Need to know where the fuse is


If the cigarette lighter does not stick when you push the lighter in then this is the step to take. The prongs inside the lighter adapter have been pushed too far out. ( This happens if you plug other electronics like satellite radio or radar detectors) First, you MUST take out the fuse from the fuse box located under in the glove box. Second, look inside the lighter adapter (not the lighter) you will see two prongs that are supposed to be flared a bit inward. Simply get a small flat head screwdriver and pick the prongs outward but not too much. Do test trials with the lighter to ensure the lighter sticks. Plug the fuse back in and your lighter will be good as new. -Pete

Need to know what fuse is for blower in 2000 ford mustang 6v


I don't know how hard it would be to pull out the blower switch and test it, but to make things easier, turn the ignition to run position, or you could start the engine if you prefer, go to the passenger side engine compartment, and a few inches to the right of the blower you will see a connector that has 5 wires going to it: 2-orange/black, a light green/white, a yellow/red and a red/orange. Unplug that connector, get a wire or a jumper and ground it good somewhere to some clean metal, or the battery negative, and then touch the jumper to corresponding orange/black prong on that connector. That is the high setting on the blower, and the blower should start at full speed. If you touch any other prongs, it will go through the resistor, and the fan will start at different speeds, so that's one way to test the resistor.
If the blower works, than your switch is defective.
If nothing happens, make sure the blower fuse is good, and with a test light or a voltmeter, make sure you have power at the blower. The blower has two wires going to it, an orange/black and a brown/orange. If there is voltage on the br/o wire, and the blower didn't come on with the previous test, than the blower is defective.

I do not have an owners man. or a fuse box diagram


there should be a removeable panel on the side of the dash on the driver's side. you'll have to open the door to locate it, It just unsnaps. I'm not exactly sure what number it is but there is only about 20 fuses. If you have a 12 volt test light you can turn the key to the on position, ground the test light and check each fuse by touching the test light on each of the metal prongs. If the light lights on one side of the fuse but not the other the fuse is bad. If you don't have a test light then just note the location of each fuse and remove them one at a time and hold them up to a light see if they are broken in the middle.

Check the ground, the resistors are accully resisnting the Negitive Current.

Alternator not exciting


Hi ' If you changed the battery and alternator,
Check the voltage at the red wire on the alternator. if there a less than 12 volt.
Check the fuse link, that goes in the starter positive bolt.
If the fuse is bad replace and recheck the charging system.
IF charging normal. good.
If not, che the fuse in the fuse box, "" cluster".
If the fuse is blow out, replace. and check again.
