I am going to base this on work that I performed on another '88 model Ford full size product and suggest that you pull the passenger side kick panel (located under the glovebox and to the right), you should see the ECM mounted there.

Where is the transmission control module on a 2001 Lincoln continental


The TCM is integrated into the PCM module. .
The PCM/ECM is under hood on the firewall around the master cylinder, there should be two to three bolts that need removal to come out on front side of fire wall. Disconnect the battery negative cable before any work is done.

It appears to be a small plug-in module... I would check immediately under the dash on the drivers side... as depicted in the bottom video.

Getting no high voltage spark from new coil, Power go,es in on side. Put new plugs,cap,rotor,pick-up coil,dist.module.1988 lincoln towncar. Could it be the computer or another module? Checked...


You may have something there. Try another module, since it is cheaper than the computer, then go for the computer.

Also, use a multimeter to make sure there is continuity on the low and high sides of the coil.

i am having the same exact problem with my 94' Continental. Runs great, then just dies. Doesnt start if i crank it over unless I wait a little while. I think its something in the ignition system, not for sure though.
