So the problem is the cylinder for the key will not turn and disengage the lock nor does the driver side release lever.

I recommend bringing the vehicle to a repair shop. This repair procedure is tricky and whom ever gets the job has to remove the rear seats to get into the trunk to get the trunk open.

After a year of looking on-line for info on how to unlock the trunk of my 1994 Toyota Camry trunk, we finally figured it out today. My husband climbed in thru the back seats [which fold down], took the trunk lid liner loose to get to the cable. He then started moving the latch back & forth until it finally opened. He then removed the entire lock assembly; we found that either a squirrel or maybe a small mouse had been chewing acorns in the trunk; there were crumbs all in the lock mechanism. He cleaned it all out & worked on just moving the levers by hand several times; then he took the trunk latch inside the car loose & adjusted it; I worked it from inside while he watched the lock working; he finally replaced the lock back in position, sprayed the key mechanism part with WD-40 & made sure every thing was back in place. Put the key in lock & turned; lock worked; pulled the inside lever & lock worked. Then we shut the trunk, said a prayer & tried the key - it worked! We then tried the lever - it worked! I had been told that I would have to take it to a body shop, they would have to take the back quarter panel loose & it would be very expensive. Our cost - approximately 3 hours of our time! What a sigh of relief.

Trunk is stuck, key cylinder in horizontal position.

There should be an emergency pull somewhere that opens it from the inside.

Wrong keys or wrong car?. lOL
the cable release won't work if the trunk kew was in lock horizontal position. It needs to be vertical when key is removed. More penetrating fluid and try to force key rocking back and forth in and out. Use lots of wd40 or penetrating fluids and repeat. This will work. Also make sure you are using a master key only. Black top.

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

I am unable to open the trunk to my 2003 Toyota Corolla. Tried first with the key. Key lock is now in a horizontal position & won't unlock or move back to a veritical position. Also tried the release...

try pushing down real hard on the trunk and see if the lock will move. And if it doesn't then if you aplly alot of pressure to the top of the trunk and removing it real fast such as hitting it or sitting it. It may shake the lock loose.

Can not get my trunk open by lever inside or key lock on trunk lid and I am using the right key. Trunk lock seems to be in open position.

The lock latch is held by a spring to be in Normal Close position. It it is in open position then there is 2 possible root causes: 1- The cable pulling the latch to open gets stuck. 2- The spring broken or out of its position. Hope this can help to fix it.

The latch on my trunk wont lock or close the trunk jwf182000@yahoo.com

you have somehow tripped the latch into the closed position while the lid was up. use your key to reopen the latch then close lid normally.

98 celica convertible key question

Is the key that you have a genuine Toyota key? If so, is the key Black or Grey? If you have the grey key, you only have the "valet" key, and it will not do what you want. You need the Black key. Put the black key in the trunk and turn it 90 degrees & remove it. This controls the inside lever on/off for the trunk. The key hole will either be horizontal or verticle. One way lets the inside lever work, the other position stops it.
