I have a 2003 Mazda Protege. The lock on the passenger door won't lock or open with remote. The others work fine. What is the problem?

I just fixed 2 of these on my son's car. We got 2 used operators from the pull-a-part auto wreck yard. We actually had the ones from the opposite side, so we uscrewed them (6 scres) and changed the nylon gear that usually has a broken shaft from operating in cold weather. Both work now. It takes more time to take off door panels and linkages, than to change the gear.

All my remotes won't unlock passenger doors, why?

this is a problem that can appear after your car battery died, cause the car didn't reset propely, so taking the battery out and putting it back in or letting your car die again would do the trick. I tried a lot of reprogramming procedured for my remote key, none of them worked, what did the trick though was simply unlocking the doors via the all door unlock button on the passenger side door, so simple.

Power door lock doesnt work

The power lock mechanism on these have this plastic gear setup and they crack. When it splits it just spins and makes that noise. You'll have replace the module, about $60 IIRC.

Mine is doing the exact same.

Have two solutions, will try it later today:

1. Unlock with remote tnen lock with key and then unlock with key.
2. Might be a power problem, check that batery is good.

Locked out

What we do at the garage is either get a rag and cover it over a flat head screwdriver and wedge it inbetween the top of the window meets the door and pry it open wide enough to get something in there or your arm.. Also depending on how much the locksmith charges you can break the little window in the back there cheap to get replaced... Let me know how it works out. Also please rate me ooo and you can buy a slim jim at the dollar store or hardware store thats what tow truck drivers use to get into locked cars or triple a will do it if you have a member ship its included..

Thanks,
Steve
