Kia sedona automatic transmission gearbox

I have a kia sedona 2003/04 registration with an automatic transmission gearbox problem. The dip-stick is showing very low in oil. How can I top-up the transmission oil. I have also been told that the oil is very black and burnt. Do you have an electronic PDF service manual.

To fill the transmission fluid, you need a funnel that fits into the dipstick tube, add fluid there. If the fluid is black and smells burnt, that's bad. I would have the fluid changed. These transmissions don't have a filter, probally a bad idea.

get the codes first ,as it can be your linkages under the car that is loose from your gear-stick to your gearbox.or it can just be a need for a fluid change .

Low oil level in the gearbox

How do you know this?
If you have an Automatic (dip stick), top it up.
If you have a manual I can only guess you have an oil slick under the car. If so, filling it is a temporary solution as you must find the leak.
To top up the manual transmission you need a very large allen head wrench (like 19mm or so) to undo the fill plug on the side of the transmission.
Get a pump for the oil (GL-4, I believe) and fill until it is dripping out the fill hole (with car level). Once it stops dripping out fill hole, replace plug.

Where is the dip stick to check transmission fluid in a 2002 kia spectra

On the 2002 Spectra, it is just left of the air filter box. It has a red "button" on top of it. It's not a "loop" like the oil dipstick. It's just like a knob for a drawer, but vertical.

With an automatic transmission, you would add transmission fluid into the ATF fill port, which is located beside the transmission's dipstick.

I hope this helps you, if so please show me the 4 thumbs up for this free solution. Thanks Mike from Fixya.

I have a Kia Sedona 53. It's an automatic and is having trouble starting. The only way I could find to start it was to keep moving the shift stick from park to reverse and back a few times and eventually...

That sounds like a bad transmission range sensor. You may want to try starting it in neutral. If this works, you need to get it fixed right away, because a faulty transmission range sensor does not only mess with your starter, but it can also cause severe transmission damage. - the computer gets "confused" as to what gear you are in.

How to check the oil. The dip stick has no method of measuring other than a small white knob on the end.

Done with scanner and it reads out oil level in mm. If oil level low, a warning with show on cluster.

Most modern vehicles measure oil level this way....as well as the transmission.

The Dip Stick tube is only for sucking out the oil. This is known as 'Top Side Evacuation'.

Some DIY types collect and measure the drained oil and refill with same amount.

Where do i put transmision fluid i a kis sadona automatic

Remove the Transmission dip stick and use a funnel to add fluid in the same tube the dip stick comes out of. With the vehicle running on level ground and warm, remove the dipstick and see where the fluid level is at before you add anything. If it is between the 2 marks on the dip stick, normally marked Hot and Cold, then your fluid level is good. If it is at the bottom mark add fluid, about a pint will do, to bring the fluid between the marks. Then see if you can get it to shift.
