First, make sure your battery is not dead or weak. A simple Multimeter can test your car battery.

Clean your battery cable connections at the battery and starter. Also clean where the cables connect to the battery. Cleaning means to take a wire brush or sand paper to get rid of rust/corrosion.

If the above does not remedy it, I would have your starter and starter solenoid tested for free at your local auto parts store.

Clicks but wont start

A single click usually indicates a bad starter.

A series of rapid clicks usually indicates a weak battery.

it could be number of things, start with the easiest first... check the bulbs. if theyre good then try the fuses if theyre good then maybe the wre came off the trans back up sensor or maybe the sensor is even loose, have someone watch the lights as you wiggle your shifter

2001 dodge dakota will not start

Sounds like a bad battery, or bad/loose connection there. After the battery is replaced, or disconnected, it will need a little bit to relearn how to idle.
