Sounds like the transmission cable (gear select cable) is corroded (rusted stuck). Very common in 90 to 93 Accords.

you have a small power(ICM)_ module that is heating up. it's square with 3 promgs 2 on 1 side 1 on the other. I believe it's on the back side of the distributor. 2 screws hold it on/ and the neutral saftey could be giving you problems. it's 1 or the other.

Reverse acts as neutral. (auto tranny)

It is hard to say, but as long as all of the forward gears work fine, then it might work for a long time. But without knowing what is wrong, I would at least change the fluid to remove as much metal or clutch material as you can. Don't worry about the filter, you can't change it without disassembling the trans. Just drain the fluid and refill it. This won't fix reverse, but it might prolong further problems. And don't park where you can't pull straight out.

I had a similar problem mine would not shift correctly and the light stayed all the time. I replaced the TCM (transmission control module), its located under the passenger side floor board its not very hard to replace I believe its only four bolts holding it in place. Just pull back the carpet and its visible. But you have to know if its a japanese or an american built honda when you buy your new one.
