My 2001 Grand am Se keeps going dead on me while I stop. What is causing this? My husband has changed my fuel filter and also added some Seafoam to my gas tank and my car is still dying on me. It will...

try checking air filter and the box it's in and the hose leading to the engine.this i believe is vacuum problem.if there is a leak,it will stall at low speed.if not that, pcv valve or vacuum lines.if you need to figure out what's what, local libraries usually have haynes manuals with everything about the car.auto idles usually don't give problems, but if nothing else works it could be that.gas is made clean enough these days so that it should not be a gas related issue.

The car starts and get shaky when it idles, and once I shift to a gear the car dies. The car had previously ran a little hot not at the red but a few lines over the middle towards the red

Greetings Grand Am SE Owner:
Please check your oil level and add more oil if needed. Check for loose or leaky vacuum hoses. Also check your fuel filter and replace. Change your air filter. You may even need a tune-up with new plugs and wires. Good Luck
