yes on some models when you change the oil then the filter you need to add oil to the new filter then put it on see the system has to build up a prime and some motors are weak and cannot pick the new oil up Good Luck let me know Mike L.
Did you refill with the correct amount and viscosity? I would change the oil filter first using a different brand filter if the problem is still there have the oil pressure tested with a gauge to see if the main bearings are failing. I hunch it's your filter. Take Care.
Check oil pressure with a gauge. The sender is electronic and could be the issue. Also oil filter could have a bad check valve. Change the oil filter, oil and sender. If the problem is still there you have worn engine bearings and major issues are coming your way.
Change the transmission fluid and filter. The light says fluid temp. is high, so you may have some burnt fluid-deadly for transmissions. Drop the trans. pan and look for metal shavings-too much will indicate failure of transmission parts. If not too much, you may be alright with fluid and filter change. Stop the leak,. make sure it is trans. fluid, not motor oil. If motor oil, stop the leak and change oil and filter. I would do the transmission regardless, since the light came on.
do not start vehicle ,drop the sump and clean it out with caustic ,also the oil pump pick up pipe ,then put the oil back in and start ,if ok then put half a litre of diesel into the oil and 3 good squirts of fairy liquid, then run engine for a week and change the oil again, use a cheap diesel /petrol oil from the supermarket ,not that fancy rip off synthetic long life ****.change oil every 6000 miles with a oil filter every third oil change
Best would be is to measure the oil pressure out put.
Sometimes the oil filter could be the culprit.
Was the oil warning light staying 'on; prior to the oil and filter change?..If not thn the first thing to check is to replace the oil filter ..its better to install the 'original' one .
Hope this helps!
