Question about 2002 Buick Rendezvous
My 2002 Buick Rendevous CXL ( 6 cyl/3.4 litre engine), recently developed a hot coolant temperature problem. To correct the problem, I started by having the radiator flushed and refilled with Dextron. After that didn't fix it, I bought a new thermostat. When I went to replace the old one with the new one, I found that it had previously been removed, probably before I bought the car 3 years ago. What should I do to fix it?
Install the new thermostat (make sure it is the right temp). This will allow for your coolant to stay long enough in the radiator to cool down.
If that does not fix it, check radiator cap, belt that turns the water pump and the water pump itself along with its pulley.
There is also the possibility that the coolant temperature sensor is giving off false readings, that the coolant system is clogged or your engine fan is not operating when it should be.
