I had the same problem on mine and it was the Harmonic Balancer. It can be a pain to replace but way cheaper than taking it to the shop. Getting the bolt on it lose was the hardest part.

Have a 98 Olds Bravada it has a noise coming from rear of engine on the passenger side. Dealership said it was possible a transmission issue. I think differently, b/c the noise is at park or drive.

Depends on the noise. Tapping or knocking is rod bearings, engine side. Whining is the transmission side. Torque converter, pump, and parts further inside the transmission.

When I backed into parking space the 1990 olds 98 will not move in any gear and front wheels will not turn at all . Is this a broken transmission that will have to be rebuilt?

Could be.
If the trans is stuck in park, you should be able to turn the front wheels if both are off the ground. Otherwise, if the brakes are not stuck on, and you can't turn either wheel with both off the ground, its the trans.

I have a 95 oldsmobile 98 regency elite I cant find where the knock sensor goes I have a haynes manual but where it shows it wont go

Well, for starters, your problem got posted under 1985 Oldsmobile 98 - then you said it was a 95 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite (HUGE difference between 85 and 95)...then it would be REALLY nice to know which engine we are talking about.

I'll just go with what you said last: 1995 Oldsmobile Regency Elite (Two engine possibilities)

If you have the 3.8L Supercharged engine (VIN CODE "1") it is on the left side of the engine near the oil filter.

If you have the non-supercharged 3.8L (VIN CODE "K") there are TWO of them. One is near the oil filter and the other one is in about the same location on the other side of the engine block.

Please also note that MOST fault codes for knock sensors are not caused by the knock sensors themselves. (they do fail, but it is very rare.) Usually there is either a wiring problem to the knock sensor, or the engine has internal problems causing a "knocking" or "ticking" noise which causes the engine computer to "think" that there is a problem with pre-detonation causing an "ignition ping". The code sets when the computer has retarded the ignition timing as far as it can and the "knock" or "ping" does not go away....usually it doesn't go away because it is not caused by ignition timing. The knock sensor is just doing its job and reporting the knock. It does not know the difference between a knock caused by ignition and a knock caused by internal engine problems.

Where is the knock cylinder located on a 1990 chevy c1500 V8

It is located in the side of the engine block on the passenger side of engine down low, it screws into the water jacket so be prepared to get wet.

My son had just had his front brakes repaired - almost $500 and when he left the garage - less than a mile the steering locked up and then the engine cut out on him. With the car in park, the engine...

take it back to the garage ,sounds like the air intake has come loose ,could have been knocked off when brakes were changed ,or something checked by garage has pulled it free

Oil leak in a 98 plymouth breeze 2.0

I've had a 1990 Acclaim, a 1990 Shadow, and a 1998 Breeze, all have a head gasket leak. The Breeze was the only one to have oil leak and it was on the rear of the engine. I'd guess that's your problem.

Hello i have an oldsmobile 1990 when its started work good but that go hot itsnot work corectly and go turn off

Have you tried replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor? It's on the passenger side of the engine, under the engine part that says "3300" on the top. One is the sender for the temp. gauge, and the other is the one for the computer. The one on the right side is the CTS.
