Does a 2011 caddyTDi250 1.6 ltr need the gearbox oil changed when the vehicle has its regular service?its 5 speed manual gearbox, and is there a filter to be changed?

No but check with the dealer or your service/owner manual for the manufacturer recommended gearbox oil change periods.
There is no filter on the manual gearbox .
Whatever the manufacturer recommended period is for a gearbox oil change, change the gearbox oil twice as frequently as recommended to maintain it in good condition. If, for example, a change every 50000 miles is stipulated then do it every 25000 or so.

Car air filter replacement

A dirty air filter in your car reduces air flow into the engine, resulting in less power and often lower gas milage. The typical filter is made out of pleaded paper. It may have an outer band of plastic foam or fiber ( in some air filters ) that traps large particles. Inspect the filter every 6 months or every 12,000 mile in normal conditions, these numbers ( period of air filter inspection ) reduces depending on how dusty and polluted your area is. In most cars the filter housing is connected to the air intake by a duct. Unclip and remove the cover, then take out the filter. Examine the filter by tapping it against a wooden surface ( or similar ) to dislodge the loose dirt. If you see a oil film on the oil filter, have a mechanic check the engine. If the filter is dirty all around, replace it. Some air filter housings have a small filter for the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system. change this filter if its dirty.
Hope this tip helps and please rate it if you found it helpful, thanks.

I have changed pcv valve twice and still getting oil in breather

The PCV valve does not control the oil situation, it just keeps the pans and valve covers from blowing off during a backfire. Excessive Oil in the breather is a result of excessive crankcase pressures, usually due to a worn engine, specifically rings.
SOME oil is normal, especially if you are loaded heavily and hard on the throttle.
There is a tester that measures crankcase pressures, but usually some other manifestation shows, like excessive oil consumption.

the PCV system draws crankcase fumes into the intake at idle and lower throttle situations. air going into the crankcase is filtered by the small PCV filter, where the oil shows up....

At highter throttle and lower intake manifold pressures, the system reverses, the PCV valve closes, and the fumes exit the crankcase VIA the breather filter. All of this is normal.

It costs tons less to periodically clean or replace the PCV filter.
