Actually it could be the 02 sensors that could cause the knock sensor code. Have you checked the fuse? A lot of times the fuse can blow and will cause both of those errors. Fuse box is under steering wheel left hand side. If you know what error codes you are getting that may help me also. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

    Ok,
What codes is your vehicle showing then? It is possible that it could help but until I know what codes are being thrown I can only speculate.
    Thank you,

Then yes, I would change the egr valve first and go from there.
    Thank you,

Hard starting, stalling

Check the fuel pressure, make sure it doesn't bleed down after the car sits, that causing long crank times/hard starting.

3.3l. Where is the knock sensor located?

this isn't a simple repair job, the knock sensor must be replace, I would also make sure that this IS the knock sensor that is the issue here otherwise if you replace and clear the codes the same issue will appear again, sometimes the engine computer will throw a code that is correct but misinterpreted which I believe might be your case,If you have a knock sensor code on any Nissan (in my experience) replacing the knock sensor will not fix it. The knock sensor detects unwanted engine vibrations, such as miss fires. So if you have a knock sensor code first check your spark plugs, are they in proper condition? (if not replace them). Next quest vans are known for clogging fuel injectors so i would recommend running a can of sea foam injector cleaner.

the first thing I would start with is looking for vaccume leaks. be sure to check your EGR valve, then move to your MAP sensor. The next thing that it could be is a stopped up catylic converter

95 villager/quest. I have changed fuel filter ,plugs, distributor, cleaned maf sensor , also replaced hose on back side of egr. Still hesitates from idle to about 3300 rpm then starts running great. chugs...

the egr should be replaced or removed and cleaned with a good carburettor cleaner and checked for operation. the 34 refers to the knock sensor not having the right info to be sent to the ecu(in simple terms). you may have to replace the knock sensor but this is in the centre of the engine under the intake. takes a few hours. plan of attack: first have the vehicle scanned for p0 codes and with a scanner that reads "live data". what youre looking for is when youre accelerating the engine timing should be changing. if its not, change the knock sensor. then attack the egr which may be a little more difficult to fix. try the cleaning and check for operation. verfity all hoses are good and routing is correct. verify vacuum at the source. what causes an engine to start running great is it is dragging the affected cylinder and can longer be felt at those rpms. it wouldnt hurt to perform a compression check on this either. let know. cheers

No vacuum to egr valve

there is an EGR vacuum solenoid somwhere that controls on/off vacuum to actuate the valve. i am not to sure of the location, but follow the vacuum line back from the egr until you find a device that looks like an electrical check valve for vacuum. that is a possibilty. but then again i am a ford, chrysler guy and am just giving you an answer based on my understanding of the functuality of a vacuum egr system
