Are you new to this? oil filters should have oil spread on the gasket before installation. then install the filter until it contacts the block then continue 3/4 of a turn. you should really mark the filter while you are learning to do this. move the filter back and forth to know you are contacting the block then make a mark with a marker and continue 3/4 of a turn. this makes a good seal and does not distort the gasket. too little and it will leak - too much and it will leak. while you are learning make sure you check to see if there are any leaks. good luck
SOURCE: oil filter location?
the oil filter is on top of the engine bay, it is under a plastic screw on cover towards the drivers side front of the engine next to the intake manifold, if there is a cover on the engine you might need to take it off to see it, the filter clips on to the back plastic screw on cover. it requires a large socket size to remove.
SOURCE: how do you check/add transmission fluid to a 2004
Hello! To check the fluid level, the first thing you want to do is get the fluid to operating temperature, by driving it for a bit and letting it shift through all gears. Once you've done that you need to make sure you park the car on a very level surface. Remove the front passenger wheel and the splash guard. From there reference the picture below to give you an idea where the fluid check plug is located - there is no dipstick on this transmission (4T45e). You will also see the fill plug location.
If you do a pan drop and filter replacement only, the fill capacity is 6.9 quarts. You will want to use Dexron III type transmission fluid.
FYI - here are the torque specs for the pan bolts is 106 in/lbs and the check/fill plugs are both 124 in/lbs.
Hope this helps and good luck!

SOURCE: what kind of oil for a 2004 grand prix
no regular oil will not hurt this car. I highlt recommend using a castrol 5-W30 it is tar based oil rather than wax based and will not clog your engine. You can use synthetic oil which costs much more but it is not necessary.
