Question about 1994 Chevrolet C1500

The fuel pump is turning on and we checked at thethrotle body and it has pressure - the nozzels are not turning on to let fuel flow

Change the fuel filter... and then use a fuel additive in the tank... suggest Lucas or SeaFoam

turning an engine over to check fuel flow only works on engines with mechanical fuel pumps
all electric pumps should produce full flow as soon as the ignition is turned on
if you have a efi car then have the fuel pressure checked at the fuel manifold as that will show a faulty pump, regulator problem or blockages to vents or hoses.

Once you turn the key on it runs for one second & then quits.Is there a fuel pump sensor that could cause this or is the pump going out. free flowing & under pressure


Only a guess as you don't state model or make. If you are testing fuel pressure at the throttle body you have a TBI system.
The ECM controls the fuel pump by allowing a short run time to prime and then requires oil pressure to keep the pump running.
If you are testing with out the motor running you are only getting the prime signal.

The fact that it will start with the throttle body cleaner means that the PCM is attempting to start the engine. The fact that there is fuel at the rail and there is pressure may be misleading. There may not be ENOUGH pressure at the rail to do the job. Check the fuel pressure regulator....pull the vacuum line off the regulator. If there is any fuel in the line, the regulator is faulty and must be replaced. This is the most likely candidate.

No gas coming out of the carb


on cool motor, remove fuel line to throttle body, turn switch to accessory position fuel should flow freely. no flow check filter located on frame rail. or defective fuel pump. pressure should be(if checked with good guage)45-55 psi. if all checks out throttle body jet clogged with gunk or you have broken-damaged throttle body wires. all of this i have found on 2.8 liter engines.-------jawstech goodluck hope this helps.

if you have the same problem with the engine Hot or Cold then it may be the cold start fuel injector in the throttle body / carb. may need to be cleaned or replaced.
may be chock and linkage

Can you here the fuel pump running?no, check fuse,and pump relay. Check pump fuel pressure,at the fuel injector rail,or throttle body. Check for voltage at the top wiring on the fuel nozzel.While cranking look for pulsating voltage.None, test computer,scan system. let me know the outcome.

Your have a Fuel Pump A Control Circuit /Open try these possible solutions. Using a OBD II scan tool. Free use at Autozone. Check operation of fuel pump. Remove the glove compartment. Turn the ignition switch to ON. CHECK: Connect terminal FC of the ECM connector and the body ground. Check for the fuel pressure in the inlet hose when it is pinched by hand. OK:There is pressure in the fuel inlet hose. At this time, you will hear a fuel flowing noise .OK. Check for starter signal circuit Check for ECM power source circuit, if no good Repair or replace.OK Check circuit opening relay, if no good Replace circuit opening relay.OK. Check voltage between terminal FC of ECM connector and body ground to do this Remove the glove compartment Turn the ignition switch ON. Measure the voltage between terminal FC of the ECM connector and the body ground OK: Voltage: 9 – 14 V OK. Check for open in harness and connector between EFI main relay (Marking: EFI) and circuit opening relay, and circuit opening relay and ECM. Check fuel pump, if no good Repair or replace fuel pump.OK. Check for open in harness and connector between circuit opening relay and fuel pump, and fuel pump and body ground, if no good Repair or replace harness or connector.OK Check and replace ECM. 2006 jeep liberty will not take gas keeps clicking off gas pump. 3rd time at dealer. dealer has no idea what's wrong i have the same problem what is the solution


The gas pumps are designed to click off when the tank is full,so either the metal flapper"anti-siphon" is obstructing the fuel nozzel,or the vent from the tank to the fuel filler is plugged and the air pressure coming back up the filler neck is clicking pump off,try pulling the nozzel out a little and see if it helps.also another thought which is most likely visually look at the rubber fuel filler tubes there are 2 the big one is fuel the little is for a vent see if they have any kinks or tight bends pinching them and restricting fuel flow.
