Question about 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Jetta TDI. I am unable to reset the blinking wrench since changing the oil. The manual I have is for a model with a few more bells and whistles than my car has. I do not have the buttons on the wiper switch that the manual indicates. HELP!!!

As a matter of fact - If you hold the trip reset button, turn on the ignitionbut don't start the car, release the trip reset button and touch the minute button under the clock, it resets the service engine (blinking wrench) light. Thank you.

That blinking light is telling you to take it to the dealer so they can make money from you the only way to stop it is with the tool they have. that is why they do it.

Did you have the oil leak prior to changing the oil? The "change engine oil" indicator is just a service reminder to get the oil changed. You need to reset it. Call your local dealer or check your owner's manual for instructions on doing this. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

2006 jetta tdi oil change

Consult the Owner's Manual, or view the oil specifications on the fill cal or dipstick (usually the fill cap) located under the hood. Depending upon mileage you may not want to vary from manufacture specifications, or risk voiding your vehicle's warranty should any remain. The VW TDI's are typically high maintenance engines. I would strongly recommend staying with the manufacture's oil specifications, and do not overfill the oil in your vehicle.

How do you change the oil for a 2000 jetta

the drain plug is underneath there should be a plastic cover under engine held on by tox screws either t20 or t25 remove these an cover will comeoff remove the drain plug after oil syops draining reinstall plug then the cover now under the hood remove the cover that says tdi it should pop off then you will see a plastic cup with a hex for a wrench or socket use your wrench to remove this as the oil filter is inside replace the filter and reinstall then 4.5 quarts of castrol synthetic dont use regular oil this will cause issues later on down the road

Hello-what size oil wrench would I need to change the oil filter on a 2001 VW Jetta TDI? Is there a particular brand or model needed?

not really. The TDI's have a drop in filter, and you will only be loosening the cover that the filter rests in. It should be hand tightened from the dealership, so a simple oil filter wrench will work. rubber gloves can sometimes disengage it also.

Key fob needs reset 2006 VW jetta TDI

I hope this might help. -- I had the same problem yesterday and fix the problem today. The steps on the manual (page 32) was too simple and wrong for my case. Read carefully the followint steps and thank me if these steps work. -- JB (owner of Jetta 2.5, 2006 model)

* The most important thing is to make sure that the LED in the driver side window frame stays blinking. The blinking means that the receiver has entered a programming mode and is waiting for the signal from the key. Good luck!

1. Insert the key with a faulty remote into the driver door lock and turn the key to the UNLOCK position 3 times in succession for at least 0.5 seconds each time, and within a total duration of 5 seconds.
: The system should now enter so called a "programming mode" and the window frame LED should blinking once every 1~2 seconds for the next 15 seconds. The faulty remote must be programmed during this period.

2. Aim the key to the (infrared) window frame LED which can be considered as a key signal receiver and press the lock button of the key fob and keep it pressed. While the button is pressed, press the unlock button three times in succession for at least 0.5 seconds each time.
3. Release both buttons.

* After all the efforts described above, the system should now acknowledge a successful programming by flashing the LED once every 1~2 seconds for more than 10 seconds. (Someone said that the small LED on the key fob should also blink a few times; although it didn't in my case.)

2006 Jetta TDI Tiptronic Maintenance

The tiptronic is not the DSG - two separate transmissions. You don't need to service the tiptronic every 40k like you do the DSG.
VW considers the fluid in a Tiptronic tranny as "lifetime" fluid - it doesn't need to be changed.

I did a oil change and spark plugs on my 2002

that happens sometimes dont worry. As long as the light isnt blinking it is fine. Just drive it for a few days. If it doesnt clear itself, take it to a shop and have then clear it for free or cheap. You could also disconnect your battery for 15 minutes or so and it will reset the computer and whipe the check engine light off. Sometimes if you have a bad plug or all cyclinders arent firing it causes the check engine light to come on. now that everything is replaced just do what I said above.

2006 vw jetta tdi service engine light reset

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.
