I would take off the battery cables and use a wire brush on the battery and the cables just to insure that it is not a corrosion problem. then turn on headlights and wipers at the same time if these work, then the battery is charged properly. Next make sure the car is in park or try the neutral position, sometimes you might have to wiggle it around to find the sweet spot on a bad switch. Next you might have starter pinion jammed..if its a "stick" then put in gear and rock the car back and forth to see if it will disengage, if automatic then see if you can get a 2x4 piece of wood and if you can access the solenoid, try and smack it real hard...then try it..sometimes it"ll only work if you have two people doing this. One trying to start it, while the other hits it. This will usually only get it started one time..but at least this is telling you that you have a bad starter "solenoid".
Now after all this and it doesn't work, if could be a seized engine or just faulty ignition switch wiring. oh! and i just remembered one last thing, i have a 97 Camaro V-6 myself..but its a stick, and in order to start it, the clutch safety switch has to work properly in order to start.

I would check ignition switch. On the starter, check to see if you are getting power to the small terminal on the starter when you turn the key to the starting position.

Car won't turn over have good battery and new starter dash lights come on but won't crank

If the cat is not turning over with a new battery and new starter, make sure the starter is getting correct power. Impalas are tricky since it is front wheel drive. Be sure the cables connecting the starter are fully tightened or plugged in, and be sure it is grounded properly. If your interior gets power there is some issue going to the starter or coming from it to the engine. When you turn the key to start, does it have any sound coming from it?

Do head lights stay on (bright) while trying to crank starter? If not, starter motor isn't getting enough current, OR engine is locked. Is there current getting through the solenoid to starter motor? Check the ground connection between the engine and chassis as well as battery and chassis.

626 1997 Mazda want crank

Start by making sure you have a good battery, or a good charge on the battery. locate the starter signal wire on the starter , usually the small wire, connect your test light. have a friend turn the key and see if test light lights up. if so, your starters bad, replace the starter and you should be good to go.

Starting / Cranking is a problem: With key ignition, turn; there's a slient buzz noise. Head lights and dash board lights come on, however it doesn't respond to crank. Weak response is battery sometimes...

This could be a battery thats bad and doesnt have enough voltage or the starter is bad, easy to figure out, have the battery tested if its bad then replace it but if it tests good then i would replace the starter and also have the charging system checked to make sure the alternater is charging the battery up. hope this is helpful.

Battery good, starter good, Alternator good. Car will not start or even turn over. All dash etc; lights but no further action. Any idea what could be wrong. you can hot wire it buy not crank it

Most likely it is a Starter Solenoid or ignition switch if starter turns but motor does not crank the bendix may not be kicking in on the starter even if it is turning also check flywheel for broken teeth.....Good Luck

Won't crank over

Try to turn the engine over with a socket on the crank bolt. If you can turn the engine over, replace the starter.
