Any engine work like this is complicated. You must strip all the accessories from the engine like the carb, intake and exhaust manifolds ... there is nothing easy about this taks though it is simple to say what to do. This is not a repair for a casual back yard mechanic.

The better question might be why does the head gasket need to be replaced. What ever caused the problem will also have to be addressed.

Low engine comoression on alfa 91spider

Gates, the compression could be low for multiple reasons. A common one is a leaky head gasket. Do you have low compression on all cylinders? Are compression readings the same for each cylinder? How did you test the compression?

Let me know the answers to the above, and we'll see if you can narrow the possibilities.

Not getting gas to engine. Where do I find the fuel pump FUSE and/or RELAY??

Generally a FPR failure won't cause a non-start. Both your Fuel pump fuse and relay are under the package shelf, behind the front seats on the right hand side. The shelf has three screws that are kinda hard to see and some Velcro holding it down. Also thick your inertial switch. The white button should be up.

Replacing a 1979 alfa romeo spider's side window

Replacing the glass is easy, finding the glass is the hard part. Did you have to break in? Or did somebody else do that? Do you have the glass? I think a body shop would charge about $100 for the job. Maybe more. But it is a simple job. The glass, will be that much. Hope this helps.

Headlight adjustment Alfa Romeo Spider 1975

Look in the headlight ring for 2 small cut outs 1 on the side 1 on the bottom insert a Phillips head screw driver in the opening to the set screw and tighten or loosen screw to adjust. You might want to park nose in to a wall and turn headlamps on to check as you work.

Hello Eran,

Normally I would jump at the opportunity to point
to the catalytic convertor as your trouble...
(or rusty muffler (has nothing to do with mileage)).

But so hot ... so fast leads me to think it is
being over fueled... If you can beg, borrow or buy a simple mechanics stethoscope you can listen to the injectors clicking.

Pick out anyone that sounds different and clear it by spraying
BERRYMANS Chemtool (see below)...
((handle it carefully... can take the PAINT off (pronto))).

Once you have eliminated the black smoke
(stuck injectors) the engine should be running
smooth enough to identify what other issues...

I would try to then OPEN the exhaust system above the catalytic converter to see if the engine runs better. Obviously you cannot drive (or even heat up the engine in that condition... but it might
tell you if the converter is STILL FAILING.

USE lots of liquid WRENCH (good 6 point wrenches)
and take your time...

Else:
Take it to a muffler shop for analysis
(just know your prices BEFORE you go)...

Hope this helps.
