Possible leaking head gasket, this will cause bubbles. Have pressure check done.

Thermastat location and replacement

It could be located near the water jacket at the intake manifold or possibly close to the water pump. Also it may be a separate housing where the return hose from the radiator meets the engine block.

1995 Lexus ES 300 Overheating

When you refilled the radiator did you burp the system to get all the air out of the lines if you get trapped air in the coolent system then the coolent doesn't circulate like its supposed to and gets hot spots. If you arent confident on how to do it take it to a shop and they will get you squared away. (To do it yourself with the vehicle cold park with the radiator at the highest point take off the radiator cap and let the vehicle run till it warms up and then watch for air bubbles and then top off your radiator and put the radiator cap back on your done)

hope this helps

Not real likely, but it was HOT outside, correct? has it overheated since? It is likely the thermostat was weak or bad, but this is a June post. Do you need further help?

Sounds like you could be low on coolant, even more so because the air starts to cool down, check coolant level with engine cold, never open a radiator when hot.

Either it one heck of a coincidence or the trans is somehow associated with or to the water temp.. The only way I know of is the transmission oil cooling. Ck the trans fluid level and onsider having the trans service.Oil change and filter and confirm or ask about the relationship of cooland and trans, if there is any. Good Luc and please let me know what you find out. Thanks Ned

Engine light

the dtc doesnt make sense. there should be a P0 or C0 in front of it. I'm going to assume that it was P0171 and P0172. mainly because those are related to the MAF relatively. Take it back to the mechanic who did the work. it sounds to me like he did something wrong.
