The catalytic converter most likely is no the sorurce of the problem, older design bead type Cat converters used to plug, but it is very rare on the newer ceramic honeycomb cats, u need to have the electronic engine control tested, are u getting a check engije light? if not has the fuel filter been replaced every 30,000 miles? also a part called the Mass Airflow sensor can cause these symptoms as well as igntion system problems.

Check engine light on or flashing ? Engine misfire an you fried the catalytic converter but that is just a guess without testing . Can't help you don't have a lot of money . Your best option , take it to a qualified repair shop an have it tested properly .Don't guess ,test .

Does not accelerate

I would start by checking the transmission fluid, and even would recommend replacing it. Hopefully a new fluid and filter change will do justice to the problem. If you notice a burnt smell or dark brown colored oil on the transmission dipstick then its obviously time for a change. Lets hope that its enough to fix the problem, if not, a new transmission/rebuild may be in the near future for you.

Car slow going up hills

check the connection between the accelerator pedal and the pump as there are two different operations at work . The accelerator cable linkage may be loose and not giving full throttle where as the cruise control is getting full throttle.

My 2011 Sonata cruise control stops working going down steep hills. The set light goes off. I had it set at 50mph but applied brakes when it increased to 70mph. Dealership says they can find nothing...

going down steep hills will all but over ride a cruise control, since the motor is trying to keep the vehicle slowed to what your desired speed that you set , unfortunately this doesn't always work,, as your speed increases, the motor can't keep the speed reduced, when you apply the brakes, the system shuts off, cruise controls were meant to be used pretty much on long flat surfaces with Low inclines ,,

the converter is what is restricting power from engine. causes of a bad converter are: decreased engine power, indicated by low rpms on the tach. hesitating or bucking during acceleration, the car will loose power going up a hill. if engine runs hotter then usual and coolant is up to par, it may indicate a bad converter. also black smoke from tail pipe is another indication of a bad converter. good- day!!

When I take my foot off the gas the car seems to roll a long way before slowing down. The tachometer drops immediately when I take my foot off the gas

My Caddy did the same thing. I could take my foot off the gas at 45mph and cruise 2 city blocks! It is just the way the tranny is set up. Going down hill, mine will downshift to help braking. It is a Caddy remember, a whole differrent breed of car.........

No cruise control available light comes on, and when this sign appears cant rev the car over 3K rpms driving on highway, going down hill and foot of the pedal light will come off

never heard of this before ,so obviously the cruise control is allowing the throttle to work then when it has a cough it puts engine on limp or slow speed .this vehicle is fly by wire so try changing the sensors on the pedals .Or just put it into dealers because if the correct part isnt known then changing parts willy nilly could cost more than a dealer repair

Stalls at low speed when in cruise control

You sould have recieved a "recall" notice in the mail about the cruise control for fire and failure issues. they are adding a fusable link where the cruise control harness connects to the brake master cylinder. if you have not had the recall performed yet you should SERIOUSLY consider getting it done, mainly so it doesnt catch fire, but "could" be the result of the failure you've been experiancing! btw, almost ALL Ford vehicles have been affected with the cruise control recall. hope this helps!
