First unhook battery. Then unplug connectors and wire. Loosen bolts to take tension off of belt. Remove belt remove bolts holding alt. Place new alt in spot remember wich holes go where so not upside down replace bolts dont tighten yet. Install belt on all pulleys tighten tensioner bolt on alt bracket to snug tension after proper tension is achieved tighten all bolts and nuts. replace all plugs and wires reconnect battery pay attention to pos and neg dont hook up battery backwards. Congrats your done.

Changed alternator and disconnected battery in the process. security system will not let me start the car

I don't think 1995 Grand cherokee has an immobilizer. Aftermarket security. Will it stay running if you keep your foot on the gas? Sounds like you need to perform the idle relearn procedure.

In my 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1L I just changed the battery, alternator, crank sensor, cam shaft position sensor, and my car service engine light keeps coming on i cant get it checked at autozone or...

What was or is the original problem?

You changed the battery, alternator, crank sensor, cam sensor. Why?

If you got no OBD1 Codes, why would you throw parts at it?

You could have used all the wasted money to get it diagnosed at a car care place (your words) in the first place.

Codes don't tell you what is wrong or what to replace.

You may want to include Auto Technology in your college coarses, and get a job as well.

Engine won't start!!!!!

It's possible the "anti-thielf" system has been failing and went out while you was driving. If the ignition key has a chip in the shaft of the key your car has anti-thieft. It's possible the system doesn't reconisethe igntion key and shut the system down. Try using another igntion key if it came with 2 keys. If the engine started you'll need to get the other igntion key replace.
