without warning, it became stuck in low gear. The rpms rev up to 5000+ but there is no power.

  • klwm68 May 02, 2010

No. Tried switching it to manual but it wouldn't shift. The three codes we have are P1421, P1423, & P0730

can you shift the transmission manually?

  • Sean Reisdorf
    Sean Reisdorf May 03, 2010

ok... well the P0730 code is a trans code, but only sets when RPMs do not match gear selection... as for the other codes, those are engine codes for the air induction system

so based on your information of not being able to shift manually you are probably looking at either a torque converter issue or trans

bottom line... get this to a garage in the morning

2007 chevy colorada code p0700 and p0717

input speed sensor for transmission is faulty which will throw the 717 code and when it does it will also tell "root" TCM (transaxle control module) to include the 700 code.
700 happens when it detects an issue with the TCM.
717 happens when the sensor is bad.

The transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. When the TCM detects a malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. 2002 buick rendevous awd tranny wont shift out of first gear

let transmission shop do pressure test and diagnostic check.many things will cause transmission not to shift right.could have faulty over drive solenoid.faulty VSS sensor it controls shifts. could have faulty TPS sensor or TCM.the first and second shift valves or solenoids bad your transmission is electronically control many things will cause problems the transmission shop use scanner to check out all shift solenoids.the older transmissions use modulator valve and governor valve control transmission shifts but the newer transmissions shifts control by TCM and ECM.

Fault P0700 indicates TCM Faulty or Transmission Failure?

It means either, what it means is this, the Transmission Control module (TCM) has requested the Powertrain control module (PCM) to turn on the check engine light because the TCM has detected a ****** fualt is present, this can be any of a bout 20 problems, that is all it means. What must be done now is to have the TCM scanned for the fault code(s) that alerted the PCM to turn on the CEL.

Diagnostic code P1782

P1782 DODGE - 2/4-OD Pressure Switch Circuit Possible causes of this code are: - Low transmission fluid level (check level hot transmission only)
- Dirty transmission fluid (has transmission been serivced at least every 60,000 miles, fluid and new filter?)
- Faulty 2/4-OD Pressure Switch
- 2/4-OD Pressure switch poor electrical connection
- 2/4-OD Pressure switch circuit is open or shorted
P1782 DODGE Description The pressure 2/4-OD Pressure Switch is part of the pressure switch of the transmission. The pressure switch are located in the solenoid assembly. The switch provide input information to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The switch will inform to the TCM is pressure exist in a specified hydraulic circuit. the TCM uses this information to verified that the solenoids are working or not.

I had an automatic gearbox on Isuzu como 3.0i repaired. now the vehicle is only engaging 1,2 3 gears and overdrive is not engaging causing high fuel consumption on the road.what can this be. you can send...

There are several faults that may result in the problem. Check the throttle position sensor voltage range. If the TPS is bad the transmission control module (TCM) will not know that you are opening the throttle and will not engage higher gears.
Check the solenoid for the gears that are not engaging. Check wiring from TCM to solenoids and wiring between overdrive switch and module. The transmission shift solenoid are located on the transmission in the valve body.
Check the speed sensor (VSS) located in the transmission.
If all that is OK sk the dealer to scan TCM and ECM (main computer) for issues.
Additionally if the box has been replaced with a used one, then the installed transmission may be faulty. Test all the rest first.

2002 Dodge Intrepid- check engine light came on gave me trouble code PO700?

This code indicates an automatic transmission control problem. The presence of this code means that the transmission control module or TCM has detected a fault and relayed it to the PCM. It could be a TCM related solenoid has failed or is damaged or the TCM itself could be faulty. Best wishes.
